Backs Massey and Barrett

District 25 State Sen. Shane Massey, R-S.C., has done a fine job representing us in the General Assembly. I applauded his election last year when he filled Tommy Moore's unexpired term and he hasn't disappointed me one bit. Massey is the kind of conservative voice we need in Columbia.

My only disappointment has been the exceedingly nasty attacks leveled against Massey by his opponent. Sen. Massey's fine record speaks for itself. He's been a leader for conservative reforms, including revamping the state's DUI laws, cracking down on illegal immigration and demanding roll call votes on budgetary issues. He also stands for sound energy policies and fiscal responsibility.

U.S. Rep. Gresham Barrett, R-S.C., also deserves to be reelected. He's been a true conservative leader and a man of character and integrity. Congressman Barrett is an ardent foe of the phony "change" being promoted by disingenuous liberals to hide their real agenda. He doesn't fall for warmed over socialism and half-baked Marxism concocted by the likes of Barack Obama, (House Speaker) Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and (Senate Majority Leader) Harry Reid, D-Nev.

The change we need is sound, sensible reform, not wild-eyed leftism masquerading as "change." We have a choice on Election Day between conservative reform and liberal revolution. Let's make the right choice -- reelect U.S. Rep. Barrett and State Sen. Massey.
