Republicans short on ideas; vote Democratic this year

  • Follow Letters

The current political ads, as we near the end of this seemingly endless campaign, illustrate the almost complete lack of new ideas in the Republican Party.

I cannot remember a single recent ad for a Republican candidate at any level that says anything about what that candidate would do to help solve the massive array of problems that face the American people. Gary Anderson, in his race against Shane Massey, even says he does not support the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Some of the ads the Democrats have run disappoint me, but the Saxby Chambliss ads against Jim Martin are truly despicable in their distortion of Martin's public record.

We Americans have not faced such a range of extraordinarily difficult and complex problems in our history. We need leaders with a suppleness of mind and an openness to new ideas to take on these challenges. If you have generally supported Republican candidates and can find one who has suggested plausible solutions to our difficulties, vote for him or her. Otherwise, cast your vote for the future -- for candidates who do have a vision for the future. Vote Democratic on Tuesday.

"Suppleness of mind"? No, I do not want a leader with "suppleness of mind". I want a leader who bases his decisions on experience and the wisdom of his trusted advisors. Obama has no experience to rely on, which leaves us with his trusted advisors: Tony Rezko, Bill Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, Rashid Khalidi, Michael Pfleger, Ted Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, his cocaine dealer, and others he chose not to name. No thank you. Vote Republican on Tuesday the 4th. Democrats vote on the 5th I think.

You base you vote on political ads? You must be a Dem, Andy.

For those that are expecting CHANGE, see what is in the news today "Barack Obama's senior advisers have drawn up plans to lower expectations for his presidency if he wins next week's election, amid concerns that many of his euphoric supporters are harboring unrealistic hopes of what he can achieve". Barry sold you a false bill of goods, raising your expectations to sell you on his idea of change, and now he is devising a plan to lower your expectations. Can you say BAIT AND SWITCH? For those that took his sales pitch hook, line and sinker, he is now devising a plan to let you down. Style over substance will never realize long term gains.

JesusIsComing everbody votes on Tuesday!
Posted by d1zmljqg on Fri Oct 31, 2008 6:49 AM ................................................... Except those who have voted early. Then there are those dead Democrats who will have to have special assistance in casting their ballot. Research has shown that dead voters are overwhelmingly Democrat. I project that the DD vote will be 100% Obama.

JesusIsComing

I'm pretty sure I heard that Democrats are supposed to vote on the 5th. I could be wrong.

jack234

Mr. President Obama can lower our expectations by 50% and his vision for our america is still more than McSame. McSame is an angry old man and Ellie Mae Palin won't get to be a maverick and shake up things, whatever that means. She was ok for a while - but not 4 years. She just needs to shake and bake. TOOT,TOOT,TOOT.

jack234

All old veterans want to fight their own war for history sake. McSame will test himself - he'll create a war just like GW. You can take that to the bank.

jack234

The Obama Expess is heading on down the track. I can see the oval office from my seat up front. TOOT,TOOT.

I4PUTT

I love me some jack234. He is so funny. Toot, toot. The reason the Democrats are now scheduled to vote on Nov 5 is to accomodate what is expected to be the largest Democrat turn out ever. Republicans will vote on the 4th & Dems on the 5th. Toot, toot. My 3 year old grandson says this all the time. Toot, toot. He also likes Obama. He just laughs & laughs when he sees those big old ears on TV. Toot, toot.

jack234

Those big ears will soon be in the white house just like GW big ears. The difference- he will listen with his big ears to his advisers and not just cheney who ruined his legacy. TOOT,TOOT.

jack234

85% od democrats have already voted. Too late with that trick. Check with Carl, he might have another trick. TOOT,TOOT.

_SisterAbdullahX_

What are all the great ideas that Obama has. I'll be waiting for someone to post them.

I4PUTT

Odd is spelled with 2 d's. Toot, toot.

I guess we need to get use to 5% of the population supporting all the govt and 95% of the population. What was that Dems talk about Fairness doctrine and equality under the law-jeez. With any luck the 5% will retire or move and take their businesses and jobs overseas. What will the 95% do without the 5% to pay all the taxes for govt, and without a handout or a job. You losers will finally realize that you need the educated successful producers-no hope of a job, no one bright enough to create a business or new technologies, etc. But you losers are gonna build America from the ground up! ROFLMAO!!! Like that is even a possibility!!!!!!

Republicans are trying to fool the very same people they fool ALL THE TIME. Now they want folk to think it's a bad idea to have a big tax cut (from Obama) if it involves providing funds to poor (less fortunate people) in an attempt to stimulate the economy from the bottom up. In short they want folks to pay more taxes and stimulate from the top down...a concept that has not worked yet. Did not work under Bush 1 or Bush 2. You GOP folks would rather pay more and stimulate from the top versus pay less and stimulate from the bottom. And don't get the mental picture that most of the wealth will be distributed to "minorities". Most of the people on welfare and not paying taxes are white folks. (I'm talking real people/real numbers not the percentage per race). I seriously don't understand how GOP leaders trick their supporters into loving the stuff that hurts them.

_SisterAbdullahX_

bcs2k...if you take Obams's proposed "tax cut" and combine it with the Bush tax cuts that he intends to let expire, you get a tax increase. How again is this good?

wewillmissyou

jack234 you need to check your grammar rules. The last time I checked America is the name of our country and should be capitalized!!!!!! Check out your first entry.

You have to take into consideration the % per race, that is the only way you can draw a comparison that will be based on facts. It is clear that there may be a greater number of whites on welfare than blacks given the total numbers in terms of population. But lets just say for example that 5% of whites are on welfare and 20% of blacks are, that is an important statistic given the larger population pool. You also fail to mention that Reagans "trickle down economics" fueled the economic boom of the 1980s (rescuing the economy from Carters double digit inflation, interest rates, and unemployment), and laid the foundation (which Clinton gets the credit for) the economic boom in the 1990s as well. BcS2k is trying to only cite statistics that support HIS argument, and dismissing stats and facts that run counter to it.

Much better to have a few good ideas than many bad ones. Voting Republican all the way since all of Obama's policies bring shame to this country. If you are trully believe in the American spirit, in oportunity, and in the potential of each and every person, starting from the unborn, to the business owner that is striving to make a living, to the citizens in uniform defending us all here on this side of the Atlantic, then your vote would be for McCain-Palin.

SoonerorLater

Republicans are the party of individual responsibility, the American spirit, trust citizens to spend their money the way they see fit, sanctity of life, strong defense, and fiscal conservatism (although that one has not been practiced). Democrats seem to be for government entitlements, taxing the rich to give to the less fortunate (although by and large they donate less to charity, go figure), more government intervention in private lives, higher taxes, anti business, weak defense (note examples of Carter and Clinton), and blame America first (see comments by Pelosi, Reid, Murtha). The country is not perfect, nor is either party, but the core values and ideas of this country are shifting away from the foundations it was built upon.

dashiel

The last Republican to have an original idea was Abraham Lincoln.

bcs2k

at RJH; breaking the welfare issue into percentages is only valid if you plan to investigate certain social-economical problems that impact a race. We are not addressing specific soci-economic problems here. I will not allow you to deflect from the fact that I am describing REAL money as viewed from the 40,000 ft level. In short -- the big picture. Most of the people who will benefit from wealth distribution are white. I have no problem with that. Poor people come in all colors. According to my research, George Bush 1 ended his term on a bad note. High unemployment and a recession. Thank God Clinton (and the boom in information technology) fixed it.

bcs2k

If you plan to start a business but your funds are small, run -- don't walk -- to the voting booth and vote Obama. If big business is your primary interest then McCain's your man. Obama's plan is geared to helping small businesses at the community/small town level. With poor residents getting bigger tax refunds (and other economic stimulus) funds will be there to allow a small community to prosper. Mccain has NO interest in small business or small town economies. That's how it was with Bush 2....and McCain will continue on that broken path.

SoonerorLater

As I stated, you only use the statistics that will support your viewpoint. I agree with you on the point that in real dollars, more money is spent on whites than blacks, I have no qualms with that fact. However, to truly depict the whole story, you must get more granular with the statistics to get a true representation of the facts. No doubt the elder Bush was done in by the economy, but I think it is a stretch to say the Clinton fixed it although he will take the credit.

_SisterAbdullahX_

Still waiting to see those good Democrat ideas. And bcs2k...... how many new poor people were created when that "boom in information technology" you speak of turned out to be an over inflated bubble?

SoonerorLater

BcS2k is spewing his BS again, how can someone who does not pay taxes get a bigger tax refund? They get a bigger entitlement. If someone pays $2,000 in taxes, and April 15th they get back $3,500, how is that a bigger refund? Can I go to Walmart with a $500 TV and get a refund for $750? It is not a bigger refund, they are getting $1,500 more than they put in, and that was paid for by someone else. That someone else paid part of his income in taxes, only to have it given to someone else. This is a plain and simple explanation of income redistribution (ie. Socialism).

CH

How do you like that "redistribute the wealth" idea, Andy? Obama should call it what it really is, "redistribute your wealth." You'll find out all about it if he becomes president. That bank account in Luxembourg is looking better everyday!
