AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Joseph Lampkin, Sr., of Augusta Avenue, entered into rest Sunday, October 26, 2008 at the University Hospital. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 30, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Solid Rock Baptist Church, Columbia Co., Ga., with Rev. Willie James Williams officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Lampkin, a native of Columbia Co., Ga., was a member of the Solid Rock Baptist Church where he served as Chairman Emeritus of the Deacon Board, formerly employed by the City of Augusta; a Retired employee of Sweetheart Co. Survivors are four sons, Larry Harris, Joseph (Deborah) Lampkin, Jr., Steve (Katherine) Lampkin, Darrell (LaShon) Lampkin; two devoted daughters, Dorothy (Ernest) Lampkin, Barbara Lampkin, Augusta; four brothers, James (Junnett) Lampkin, Jr., Pierce (Daisy) Lampkin, Augusta, Henry Lampkin, Philadelphia, Pa., and Robert (Sandra) Lampkin, Hephzibah; four sisters, Lizzie Leverett, Anna Dunn, Appling, Ethel (O.D.) Colvin, Rosa Benning, Hephzibah; 19 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; devoted grandchildren, Carlos Carter and Daniel Lampkin; three sisters-in-law, Georgia Lampkin, Iva (Josh) Wright, Mary (Eddie) Fountain; three brothers-in-law, Jimmy (Dorothy) Tutt, Clarence Tutt, and Freddie Tutt; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; devoted cousin, Johnny Holmes, Hephzibah.
