A. H. Jenkins (AUGUSTA, Ga.)

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Monday, October 27, 2008 at Trinity Hospital, Mr. A. H. Jenkins, 83, husband of the late Marjorie W. Jenkins. Mr. Jenkins was a native of Sperryville, VA and had lived in Augusta since 1942. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy and retired as Sergeant with the Augusta Police Department where her received Law Enforcement of the Year Award in 1982 presented by the Summerville-Augusta Exchange Club. Family members include his daughter: Gloria "Peggy" Carreras of Augusta; sons and daughters-in- law: A.H., Jr. "Sonny" and Cynthia Jenkins of Augusta, Alvin and Tina Jenkins of Augusta; grandchildren: Preston Jenkins, William P. Etheridge, Jr., Candy Ward, Angela Etheridge, Chantel Carreras, DeeDee Carreras; great-grandchildren: Travis Ward, Jr., Heather Ward, Cameron Carreras, Kylee Carreras and sister: Sallie Atkins of Washington, VA. He was preceded in death by a son: William P. "Billy" Etheridge and a brother: Jonas Jenkins. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 30, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Rev. Marion Jay and Rev. Chet Smith officiating. Pallbearers will be members of the Richmond Co. Sheriff's Department. Honorary pallbearers will be the Richmond Co. Sheriff's Department. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
