LINCOLNTON, Ga. - Mr. Herbert B. "Benny" Williams, 55, of Ralph Goolsby Rd., died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008 at Doctors Hospital, Augusta, GA. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 30th, 2008 at 3 p.m. at Martin's Crossroads Congregational Holiness Church with Revs. James James, Paul C. Reviere, and Larry Chkoreff officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Masonic Rites accorded. Mr. Williams was born on Feb. 13th, 1953 in Eastman, Ga., but lived in Virginia most of his life. He retired from the Craney Island Fire Dept. in Portsmouth, Va., then moved from Elizabeth City, Va., to Lincoln County, where he spent the past 10 years. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Chesapeake, VA, and had served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam. Mr. Williams was a member of numerous organizations including: Wakefield, VA Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Portsmouth, and Khevide Shrine Temple, Chesapeake, VA. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Jack Ed Myers.
