COLUMBIA, S.C. - June 'Kay' White, 46, of Columbia, SC passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2008. She was born September 18, 1962 to June K. White and the late Maurice C. White of McCormick, SC. She grew up in McCormick and graduated from Long Cane Academy in 1980. In 1984, she graduated Winthrop College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. She had a 22 year career with the South Carolina Department of State Parks, Recreation, and Tourism. Kay loved traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She loved the outdoors, camping, hiking, water skiing and rafting. Over the years, Kay volunteered at the Columbia Soup Kitchen and Habitat for Humanity. Left to cherish warm and loving memories are her mother; her brother, Maurice C. White, III and wife, Hsueh-an of McCormick, SC; her sister, Jane Cochrane and husband Ned of Simpsonville, SC; her nieces and nephews, Lynn White, Chris White, Michael Cochrane and Melissa Cochrane; an aunt, Carolyn R. White of Abbeville, SC; as well as a host of cousins, and life long friends. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 28 at 3:00pm at the McCormick First Baptist Church, 108 Oak Street, McCormick, SC, conducted by the Rev. Dennis Lynn. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service. Her family wishes to thank Dr. Mary A. Ackerman and her staff in Columbia, SC; Kay's SC Sate Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism family; and her many friends for their love and support through her eleven year battle with breast cancer. The family will be at the home of Kay's mother, June White, in McCormick, SC.
