John Earl Clayton (AUGUSTA, Ga.)

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at his residence, Mr. John Earl Clayton of Pate Avenue. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. from Miles Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church with Reverend Jerry Poole officiating and Reverend Dr. Walter E. Clayton, eulogist. Mr. Clayton was a devoted member of Miles Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church where he served as a Trustee, Steward and member of the Leroy Williams Male Ensemble. Survivors are his loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Georgene Clayton; two sons, Tony Clayton and Vincent Clayton, Augusta; one sister, Mary (Curtis) Lane, Atlanta, GA; two brothers, Willie Barren (Monique) Clayton, Carbon Hill, AL and Reverend Dr. Walter (Lillian) Clayton, Augusta, GA; three grandchildren, Anthony Clayton, Vinece Clayton and Antone Clayton; three godchildren, Mercy Lineberry, Litany Lineberry and Quintin Bell and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
