Man arrested after shooting at nightclub
A 21-year-old Aiken man was arrested Monday by state law enforcement agents in connection with a shooting at a Greenville, S.C., nightclub.
Monieque Shamond Green is charged with unlawful carrying of a pistol, according to a statement from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division. Mr. Green was working as a private, armed security officer at Club Rolex on Friday night when a man was shot outside the club, according to the statement.
SLED found that Mr. Green's license as a private, armed security guard expired last month. If convicted, he could face a year in prison and $1,000 in fines.
Police say teens told bogus donation tale
Two teenagers were arrested Tuesday after pretending to be participants in a Richmond County Parks and Recreation program to solicit donations from homeowners, police say.
Jerrell Hill, 17, of the 3500 block of Jonathan Circle, and an unnamed 14-year-old were apprehended on Emerson Drive shortly after they were given $10, Richmond County sheriff's Lt. Tony Walden said.
Both were charged with theft by deception, Lt. Walden said.
Anyone who believes they might have been victims of the scam can call the sheriff's office at (706) 821-1080.
Council delays sex offender ordinance
The Aiken County Council voted Tuesday night to table a proposed sex offender ordinance that would have placed restrictions on where offenders can work and hang out.
In June, South Carolina lawmakers passed a law banning offenders from living within 1,000 feet of day-care centers, schools and children's recreational facilities. It also prevents local governments from passing stricter ordinances.
Aiken's proposed ordinance would prevent offenders from working or loitering within 1,000 feet of those locales.

Club Rolex? Some people are just too stupid.
Well it would be nice to know WHY HE SHOT the man in the first place? I mean just because you are working as an armed security guard doesn't give you the right to randomly shoot someone. Was he defending himself? Was he defending someone else? Did he just start shooting for no reason? Not a good story too many holes.
You know I was thinking, Was he even involved in the shooting or did SLED just run a check on him while they were investigating it? Still the story doesn't make since. Nice work AC.
Club Rolex?..what kind of club is that and why the need for an armed guard?
Some good questions AugustaVoter. The AC often leaves information 'till the follow up article.
Some clown named Sh'twat held up a few folks at Club Timex recently.
LOL 426....too funny!!
Where does the article state that ot was the guard who did the shooting?
