Why can't Sarah Palin say 'nuclear'?

  • Follow Letters

One word describes the Biden-Palin debate:

Nuk--uu-lur, Palin's incorrect pronunciation.

Nuk--lee-ur, Biden correct pronunciation.

Our candidates should be held accountable for their education.

Jimmy Carter, a nuclear physicist, couldn't pronounce nuclear either, so what's your point? Are you saying he wasn't educated either? And since when has anyone held Biden accountable for HIS education? Why doesn't Biden know that Roosevelt wasn't on TV? Why doesn't he know that jobs isn't a 3 letter word? Why isn't Obama held accountable for knowing that there aren't 57 states?

Let's elect a man who graduated 4th from the BOTTOM of his class and a journalist. Great choice. Besides, Al Qaeda has just endorsed McCain for President.

_SisterAbdullahX_

And the Socialist Party endorsed Obama. So what's your point?

Nammy

If you got that out of the RollingStone magazine--hate to tell ya but they are biased...just check out the fake front cover/cover from 1973 they chose for that issue...it says it all.

I4PUTT

If uh...uh...uh....wait a minute now.....uh...uh I'm elected....uh...uh....president....is this really all you've got. You, mr. Nazarete, should never be allowed to post again.

patriciathomas

As I recall, without a prompter, Obama's usual answer is uh-uh-uh, and he's been trained by a well organized socialist entity to be a top public speaker. We only seem to see what we want to see.

GaC, a very experienced and successful man that graduated fourth from the bottom of his class and a very successful journalist and mother and unabashed American that has proven her capabilities without any cover up.

I could care less about how she pronounces nuclear. At least she understands the need for nuclear energy to meet future energy demands. Go nuclear....cheaper, cleaner, and safer.

2tired2argueanymore

I heard that Al Qaeda has just endorsed GaC.

If I say it enough it must be true.

Another waste of newsprint...So she has trouble pronouncing a word, could it be because of her northern dialect? How about the way Bostonians speak or how many of us Southerners speak. My God, grow up.

dashiel

I kinda like the way Palin says nuclear. She's folksy and cute as a bug and I would vote for her if pronouncing words had anything to do with the cost of me in China.

weekapaug05

And I'm sure Mr. Nazarete has perfect pronunciation of every word in the English dictionary, knows all the rules of grammar, & has the MLA handbook memorized

shamrock

Palin's pronounciation is correct and Robert is completely incorrect. HEY, if the Democrats can get away with spreading a bunch of lies and misinformation ... so can I. As far as being correct, who cares? I'm worried about the President knowing how to deal with it and not the VP says it. Barack Obama doesn't have the experience and Joe Biden has been very clear to point that out! Thanks Joe!

Well, I guess after the election, Sarah Lee will atleast have a brand new outfits to wear back to Alaska. The Obama will be taking a short detour through Hawaii, but we will be back on Monday. Get on board now, seats are filling up fast. LOL

jack234

Asked by a third-grader what a vice president does, Republican candidate Sarah Palin responded that the vice president is the president's "team mate" but also "runs the Senate" and "can really get in there with the senators and make a lot of good policy changes."

IBJusLikeU

If only it were true... let's ask Obama some questions about what a POTUS does and see what he says.

Those who criticize someone at the "bottom of his class" at the Naval Academy......I challenge you to even get accepted there....then we'll see how well you do IF you get accepted.

Bwaahhaaha. LOL. We've got professional newscasters (of all races) here saying liberry, for library, gel for jail, chuldren for children, sell for sale, ax for ask, and so on, and he's complaining about Palin pronouncing nuclear the way all her neighbors do. It's a regional thing and she's probably proud of it. Do me a favor and call all our local stations when you hear a word mis-pronounced. Nothing will get done about that either. They are proud of mispronouncing words in the local way and they've been mispronouncing the same words over and over for years. It doesn't seem to matter here, so lotsa luck getting anyone else to change, especially Palin.

If candidates should be held accountable for their education, why is NObama's college transcripts being hidden? I know plenty of people who pronounce the word nucular rather than nuclear and they too, are well educated. BTW, I haven't noticed her pronouncing the word that way. I'll sure pay attention to such important issues. Talk about grasping at straws.

jack

GAC, graduating 4th from the bottom of his class STILL makes him an engineer (which all military academy grads are). Where in NObama's classes did he graduate? Hmmmmmm can't seem to find his transcripts as they are being hidden.

That's a bit gratuitous, there, Robert, since there are a lot of other things about Sarah Palin that are just plain scary. She has yet to learn, for example, that the vice president doesn't participate in the lawmaking process, except to preside over Senate sessions and break the occasional Senate tie. She is woefully ignorant of most issues, relying upon carefully prepared comments, as witness her frequent, transparent changing of the subject during the VP candidates' debate. The Republicans selected her on the basis of lies, pure and simple. Now I find her Minnesota-based accent endearing, and I admire her for being a mother courageously facing the same joys and sorrows that millions of other mothers face. But as a potential President of the Unites States? No, no, no.

The Maverick who wants to clean up waste: The Republican National Committee spent about $150,000 on clothing, hair styling, makeup and other "campaign accessories" in September for the McCain campaign after Palin, the governor of Alaska, joined the ticket.

The expenses include $75,062 spent at Neiman Marcus in Minneapolis Minn., and $41,850 in St. Louis in early September. The committee also reported spending $4,100 for makeup and hair consulting. The expenses were first reported by Politico.com.

Be careful Mr. Nazarate....Any questioning of Palin is seen as sexist...She and her backers hide behind feminity and are as dangerous as a moose chased by hounds and backed into a timber bank with nowhere else to go but through you....Besides, cut her some slack, she went to 5 colleges just to get a degree in journalism...That requires a great deal of determination to start and stop, start and stop, start and stop, start and stop, start and stop...
