Letter to the Editor
After listening to all of the debates, I cannot deny that Barack Obama is a much better orator than John McCain. After every session there are those who wonder "John, why didn't you say this or that?" I'm sure Mr. McCain thinks the same thing.
But he is running on his record, not his ability to convince people from the stump. On the other hand, Obama is running on convincing dreams rather than a lengthy record of what he has accomplished.
It is more than coincidence that the stock market plunged to a disaster conveniently just before President Bush left office so that Obama and the Democratic Party could look like the great solutions. Isn't it strange that so few blame the last two years of woe on the ruling Democratic Congress?
Obama speaks of bringing factories and auto plants back to America, and yet assures that he is going to soak them with even heavier taxes.
Very few manufacturing companies that left American soil because of government intervention, high wages and high taxes are going to be persuaded to return if their taxes are even higher and their workers must be paid higher wages.
I fear that if Obama becomes president, America will swiftly become a socialist nation. Instead of enjoying the fruits of their labor, the profits of those who work hard to get ahead will be taken and shared among those who are waiting for a handout, some deserving, some loafers. This idea is taken from the Communist Manifesto, which states their intent is to take from the haves and give to the have-nots. Sound familiar? II Thessalonians 3:10 says that if one is not willing to work, he doesn't deserve to eat. I agree.
America is already the most generous nation on Earth. Don't mess with it. Please get out and vote your conscience this year.
