Police seek man in North Augusta robbery

Aiken County officials were searching late Saturday for a man who robbed a Pizza Hut worker at a North Augusta bank.

Aiken County sheriff's deputies responded to an armed robbery at Bank of America at 315 Edgefield Road at about 8:55 p.m., said Aiken County sheriff's Lt. Michael Frank.

The employee was making a night deposit when a man with a bandanna across his face jumped from bushes, pointed a gun at her and demanded money, Lt. Frank said. The woman threw the deposit bag at the man, who then fled on foot through the Belvedere Ridge neighborhood.

Deputies and a bloodhound tracking team searched for the man for an hour. Officials described the suspect as a black man, 5 feet 11 inches tall, 185 pounds and wearing a black hat and black shirt.

Has the bloodhound tracking team ever found anyone using the dogs? I've seen them in use several times, and have yet to even hear of a successful effort.

it's not as easy as you would think, but yes they have tracked successfully many times before.

8:55 and making a deposit already?threw the bag at the crook? sounds fishy here.might want to get the old polygraph machine out.the employee probably came to a known loaction and picked the guy up after the deputies left?

Those bloodhounds crack me up.....permanent colds. I'd be surprised if they sniff each others hind ends and know the difference.

talktome

why didn't Aiken county bring out the helicopters and surrounding agencies for this law abiding citizen?

I agree with you angiesdad, 8:55 is a little early to be making deposit, especially considering you are not closed yet!!

sismel

I have never made a deposit when we were closed, it's always been during business hours.
