Carolina rants and raves

RAVES TO THE Jackson Middle School students at the Pizza Joint on Tuesday. As uniformed soldiers entered and exited the establishment, these students stood and applauded each time. Now that shows character, pride and patriotism!

A RANT TO THE Aiken person or persons riding around shooting pets that are fenced in and easy targets. We hope you feel tough, but we have another word for you. Hope you don't come to our community -- we shoot back.

AIKEN MIGHT NOT be blowing smoke, but I can't say the same for the editorial page. Where's the beef about the debt crisis? I'm expecting daily diatribes, and get smoke and roses. Brains tired? At least, the cartoonist is keeping busy and on task.

A BIG RAVE for the motorists who have kept their heads during the heat and gas shortages recently. I ride my bike to work as often as I can, on some real busy roads. Thanks to the vast majority of drivers who practice the live-and-let-live philosophy.

THIS IS A RAVE for Dr. Allen's and Dr. Kathy's office in North Augusta. They really are very nice over there and make a big effort to know each and every one of their patients. They were amazing when I went there last week. I was just really surprised how they try to make sure they know all the patients. Thanks for making the first visit there so wonderful.

TO THE GAS STATION on Aiken-Augusta Highway: You didn't call the police when a young black man was being harassed by a redneck over some gas. Remember, you get what you give, and for the redneck that acted like a fool over gas, be glad nothing happened to that young man.

RAVE FOR TELEVISION station WRDW for having the "adoption corner" on their shows. I hope it will help cut down on the euthanasia rate in the area. Everyone, please spay and neuter (our pets) to help with the overpopulation.

A BIG THANK YOU to the person in the van at Gary's drive-through on Monday who paid for the North Augusta Public Safety Officer's meal. God bless you.

AIKEN IS GETTING a dog park. Augusta has been upstaged again. Imagine that.
