October is a busy month at the Aiken County Historical Museum, with events almost every weekend.

The Nancy Wylds stained-glass exhibit will be at the museum throughout the month, said Elliott Levy, the museum's executive director.

"She does stained glass the way it was done traditionally," he said. "She's very, very well-known."

A reception for Ms. Wylds will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday.

The museum has teamed with the University of South Carolina Aiken's Academy for Lifelong Learning for a series of programs on Mondays in October. Featured discussions will be on the museum's Ladies of Aiken exhibit and the trunk show assistant museum director Mary White presents to school groups.

Three people who will be featured at the annual A Day to Remember: Colonial Times in North Augusta on Oct. 18-19 will give individual performances.

At 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, Ben Franklin will make an appearance before he heads to the Colonial Times.

A lace maker will visit the museum at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 23, and the Fairwinds circus will be on the museum grounds at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26.

"The family portrays a typical small circus from the 1700s and 1800s. There's a lot of magic, sleight of hand. The highlight is the daughter walking up and down" a pyramid of swords, he said.

The performances cost $10 each or $25 for all three. For more information, call (803) 642-2015.
