LINDA PARKER

FAMILY: Mother, Luretha Tutt; brothers Milton Bell Sr. and Sammie Parker

OCCUPATION: Error control specialist, Richmond County Department of Family and Children Services; sales associate, Wal-Mart, Thomson

DIAGNOSED: Oct. 1, 2002. When I found out, it was on my 40th birthday. It makes each year that I live to see a blessing.

WHAT HELPED: Supportive family and friends, but most of all the power of prayer. A lot of my co-workers are very strong in their faith and they prayed for me. My whole family got together and prayed. My aunt, Viola Avery, took care of me when I couldn't take care of myself. I had a special friend who cared for me and took me to all my doctor appointments.

OUTLOOK: My prognosis continues to be good. I continue to have a positive attitude and thank God each day.

ADVICE: Never give up and remember God is able. Just put your trust in God.

PERSONAL: When I found out that I had cancer, it really brought me closer to God. It made my faith stronger. I feel like I'm just a living witness. I know what he can do if you just believe. He brought me through a lot.
