MARTINEZ, Ga. - Julia F. Dainer wife of Mr. Michael Joseph Dainer entered into rest Saturday, September 27, 2008 at Elmcroft Assisted Living, Martinez, with family members at her side. Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 4, 2008, at 2:00 P.M. at Elmcroft Assisted Living. Mrs. Dainer was born October 27, 1916, in Manhattan (Harlem) New York City and moved to Irvington, NJ as a child. She later lived and worked in Union, NJ until 1977. Thereafter, she and her husband resided in various retirement communities throughout southern Florida, most recently Boynton Beach, prior to their settling earlier this year in Columbia County. Mrs. Dainer held degrees in Education, a Bachelor of Arts from Newark State Teachers College (Now Kean University, New Jersey) 1937 and a Master of Arts from Seton Hall University, 1956.Her career in Union Township New Jersey Public Schools spanned 40 years prior to her retirement in 1977. During her career Mrs. Dainer had been an elementary school teacher, a high school guidance counselor and the Director of Testing. Mrs. Dainer had been active volunteer in the USO during WW II, a member of the Business and Professional Women of New Jersey, and a board member of the Union Township Education Association. She and family members attended the Unitarian Church in Summit, New Jersey. She was predeceased by her parents, Morris and Bessie Flashberg, and brother Jack Flashberg. In addition to her devoted husband of 70 years, survivors include three sons, Dr. Michael Jeffrey Dainer of El Cajon, CA, Dr. Paul M. Dainer of Evans, GA., Dr. Roger Dainer, Pleasanton, CA, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
