Fort Gordon will hold job fair next week

A job fair will be held at the Fort Gordon Army Reserve Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 7.

The fair is open to the public. More than 75 employers are scheduled to attend. Some of the employers include General Dynamics, Comcast, Raytheon, Medical College of Georgia, Lockheed Martin and the Fort Gordon Civilian Personnel Advisory Center.

Oil prices rise as work on bailout continues

NEW YORK --- Oil prices swung back above $100 a barrel Tuesday after a precipitous plunge a day earlier, with a growing consensus among investors that Congress will resurrect a failed U.S. financial bailout plan.

Light, sweet crude for November delivery rose $4.27 to settle at $100.64 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

A gallon of regular gasoline shed a penny overnight to a new U.S. average of $3.633.
