Mr. Chambliss has spoken, and the Republican's vote has hurt us all.
JOHN'S CREEK, Ga. --- As the nation's financial crisis deepened Monday, opponents of U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss said he has been in lockstep with the Bush administration that created the economic turmoil.
At a candidate forum in suburban Atlanta, Democratic Senate hopeful Jim Martin accused Mr. Chambliss of "blindly following" the Bush administration's lax regulatory policies.
"George Bush and Saxby Chambliss have had their chance and they have proven that trying to build our economy from the top down simply doesn't work," Mr. Martin said Monday at the forum held by State Farm Insurance Co.
Libertarian Allen Buckley said Mr. Chambliss has "Potomac fever."
"If you have a single patriotic bone in your body you cannot vote for Saxby Chambliss," Mr. Buckley said.
He said Mr. Chambliss' call to make the Bush administration's tax cuts permanent will cause the deficit to balloon out of control without accompanying spending cuts.
Mr. Chambliss remained in Washington on Monday as Congress scrambled to resuscitate a $700 billion bailout plan after it was defeated on the House floor. His wife, Julianne, appeared on his behalf. She said her husband was working to find a solution to the current crisis.
A spokeswoman for Mr. Chambliss was more blunt. She sharply questioned Mr. Martin's attack, saying the former state lawmaker was using as evidence votes that Mr. Chambliss cast during the Democratic Clinton administration.
"Martin can't point to a single vote that wasn't a Bill Clinton bill with bipartisan support," Michelle Hitt Grasso said.
Mr. Martin said Monday he would not have voted for the bailout bill, that it lacked sufficient regulatory and consumer protections.
Mr. Chambliss has not said whether he would support the current bailout bill.
Mr. Chambliss has spoken, and the Republican's vote has hurt us all.
Saxby already lost my vote on amnesty for illegals and the "Gang of 10" oil proposal. His public arrogance towards those who oppose his policies is not forgotten. I have no candidate.
Bush has been a lousy president, but he can't take the blame for this current financial mess. This is a bipartisan mess, both major political parties contributed heavily to the ignorance that created this debacle. Now both parties are pointing fingers at each other instead of working together to fix the problem. We need to get rid of these two parties, who are now completely out of touch with this country.
I might not vote for Chambliss, but martin is telling a straight out lie. This meltdown can be laid directly at Clinton and a bi-partisian congress!!! So dems need to buck up and shut up!
Saxby Special Interest Chambliss is a big spending, Big Government, Pro Amnesty LIBERAL. He is a total sell out to LOBBYIST putting their interest before the Georgia Taxpayer. McCain says COUNTRY FIRST, Saxby says LOBBYIST(especially Bo Chambliss) FIRST.
Southerner2, Check out Allen Buckley, he is a good honest man & all real Republicans, including my state Senator, are voting for him.
Saxby on amnesty with his buddies Boxer, Kennedy & Reid:.......
Paulwheeler, paulwehitherspoons::
Here's a man you can be proud to vote for.....

Saxby should just keep on selling the chicken! Oh that's Zaxby's. Sorry.
Nothing surprising in this article. The Dems are using the philosophy of Dr Joseph Goebbels: a lie repeated often enough is perceived as being the truth. With the current state of government-run public education in this country, we now find ourselves at a similar time in our history as pre-Nazi Germany. The Dems are owned lock-stock-barrel by the extreme left. Telling a lie means nothing to these fanatics. Hence, Bush is to blame for the hurricanes, the earthquakes, the housing mortgage crisis, and the pimple on your butt. The Dem strategy is to run agsinst Bush - they cannot be honest with the American people and tell us where they really stand on any particular issue. Thus, the constant lie, the constant scandal, the constant investigation. They intend to pin any Republican candidate to Bush. Saxby is only the latest in their evil scheme. The truth is that Saxby is not Bush, Bush did not create the current mortgage crisis (the Dems did), and the American people have spoken - they don't want Wall Street bailed out. The Republicans will listen & vote according to their constituency, the Dems will vote according to party line because they think they know better than theirs.
chambliss showed his rotten character in the 02 election when he accused max cleland of being a traitor for not signing the patriot act .cleland would not sign it because in his words ,it picked on the average american.but saxby labeling this man a traitor was dispicable,as everybody knows max cleland left two legs and an arm on the battlefield in vietnam, plus he was a champion for veteran and average americans rights.a traitor ,i think not ,a real hero ,yes.
Cleland was entrenched in the old guard political circles of Washington. He had no new ideas. It was his time to go. In fact, he was overdue to be thrown out. The only thing that might have saved Cleland would have been Joe Biden. I can hear Joe now: "Max? Where's Max? Stand up Max! Stand up! Oh my, what am I saying? Everybody stand up for Max!"
Standing Tall, do you agree with Saxby on Amnesty?? How about his Gang of 10 Traitors? How about working with Pelosi, Reid, Kennedy, & Frank to over ride President Bush's Veto of Saxby's farm bill? I am sure you are in favor of a $437,000 subsidy for race horses.
IBEW, Cleland did NOT leave his legs on any battle field. He was victim of his own hand grenade that came loose from his web gear when deplaning frrom a chopper. He used his wheel chair for pure politics every time he was in front of a camera trying to give the idea he lost his legs in combat. He should have signed the Patriot Act that has kept us from another 9/11. BTW, I am not a Chambliss supporter as I live in SC. I just believe in FACTS and the TRUTH.
Chambliss is another Lindsey Grahamnesty in my opinion. A RINO that should go. I voted for Grahamnesty's DIM opponent I want him gone so badly.
Values: Chambliss and Isaakson have both embraced less-than-traditional conservative values at times. The time to punish them is in the next Republican primary - not the general election. The libs would love for the conservatives to sit this one out or get fooled into voting for Martin on Nov. 4th! Don't fall prey to their election year tactics. I have a hunch that both have run their course, like Cleland did, and it is time for new true conservative blood. When hunting for turkeys, you need to be patient, carry a powerful, accurate weapon, and keep telling yourself "wait . . . wait . . . wait . . . NOW! Pow!" The next primary - we boot them both out of office. Let's not give Pelosi, Reid, and God forbid, Obama another Dem vote in the Senate!
Standing Tall, you are so right. I wish there was a primary challenger against Saxby, but it's too late for that. There is no way I will vote for Democrat or Libertarian at General election. Voting for them would guaranttee keeping Harry Reid as the senate majority leader.
Standing Tall & Little Lady.. look at what Saxby has done.. he is a crook. He brags about working with Reid, Pelosi, Kennedy & Frank..If you want Amnesty for Illegals vote for Saxby. I am voting "None of the above". Chambliss has a 20 point lead & needs to know we do not approve of him selling OUR vote to LOBBYIST.
Values: I understand your position. Please make sure that you CALL Saxby's office and speak to one of his staffers. Don't write or email - you'll just get a generic response. Tell that staffer what you've told all of us. Calling our representatives does (sometimes) work. They do (on occasion) respond to the threat of losing the vote. Saxby may not have voted true to the conservative platform, but he's not a crook. He does need to be replaced with fresh blood in the next primary.
ST, sorry, he went to Wash, therefore he is a Crook!
