MARIETTA, Ga. - Zakia Saleh Akly, 87, entered into rest Friday, September 26th after a long battle with cancer. She immigrated to Marietta, Georgia after raising her family of six children in Amman, Jordan. Mrs. Akly was born in Rama, Palestine. She married Col. Saleh Akly there before moving to Jordan. She is survived by six children, Mr. Issa Akly of Marietta, Mrs. Afaf Akly of Kennesaw, Mr. Issam Akly of Gainesville, Fl, Mrs. Aida Jarkas of Washington, D.C., Mr. Tony Akly of Marietta and Dr. Tina Whitehouse of Augusta. Mrs. Akly is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was a devout Christian and member of the Orthodox Christian Church. Funeral services will be held, Monday September 29, 2008 at 11 a.m. at St. Elias Orthodox Church, 2045 Ponce de Leon. Her memory will be cherished and her quick smile sorely missed.
