First I'll say Welcome home, Mr. Campbell. Thank you for serving. But I don't get it. Marines get seven months; Air Force gets between 4 and 7 months. Army gets FIFTEEN month deployments. I'm watching my friends get lower and lower the longer their husbands and fathers are gone. How about some equality between the branches?

If you are that concerned about equality in the branches perhaps you should practice what you preach...you yourself have failed to mention the Navy. My son is serving on the ground in Iraq right now and will be there 10 months. Everyone that goes has a job to do...sometimes it takes 4 months and sometimes 2 years. Instead of being judgemental just be supportive to your friends.

Actually NEone you are wrong the Army has officially moved down to 12 month deployments as of August 1st-- how do I know this my husband is active duty military and he left for 12 months--BOOTS ON THE GROUND--but I do agree with you on all the other services that is ridiculous about the army being gone for first 15 months then 12 then back to 15 then back to 12 WHAT GIVES I would love my husband to be gone only 7 months maybe that would mean one less missed Christmas or birthday WOW I can only hope that would happen. Unfortunately the Army carries the brunt of the deployments.

Sorry folks that you feel the need to criticize my thoughts. 1)We are also active duty ARMY so we know the system. 2) I did not mention Navy b/c I didn't know the facts for that branch and your 10 month deployment is still less than the army, whether 12 or 15; 3) I work in a school where at least 1/3 of our parents are in the sandbox; please don't criticize what I say until you know more; 4) I am supportive to my friends; three families in our building are deployed AND THEY ARE ALL GONE FOR 15 MONTHS. The policy changed, but those sent downrange under the 15 mo. rule must stay for the full 15 months. It stinks. And I'm tired of hearing AF wives whining about their deployments, some for only 4 months. In Army life, that's like a business trip.
