Authorities call graffiti at center gang-related
Police say they are investigating what appears to be gang-related graffiti on the front doors of the Marion-Hatcher Center in Augusta.
Someone sprayed black paint on the two doors at 519 Greene St. between Wednesday night and Thursday morning, according to authorities. The vandalism appears to have been done by a gang calling themselves Thugged Mafia, said Richmond County sheriff's Sgt. Blaise Dresser.
"We'll continue to monitor this activity in hopes to locate those who committed this crime," he said.
The Marion-Hatcher Center is across the street from the Richmond County Municipal Building and is a social hall for various events.
TRAFFIC REPORT
The outside westbound lane at Laney Walker Boulevard and East Boundary Road will be closed until Sept. 26 while crews install a new storm drain, according to a Richmond County Engineering Department news release.
There will be no detour and only one lane of traffic will be open.
