AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest on Sunday, September 14, 2008, Mr. Edward Wayne Boose, 74, of Augusta, Ga. Mr. Boose was a lifelong resident of Augusta; he graduated from The Academy of Richmond County, then Newberry College in 1957. He played baseball for Newberry College, with whom he led to the S.C. State Baseball Championship in 1952, and was a member of the Block 'N' Club and Kappa Phi Fraternity. After graduating from Newberry he enlisted in the U.S. Army as a Social Service Specialist and Medic. He played baseball for the Army and was on the 4th Army Championship team in 1957. He loved Baseball almost as much as he loved the Georgia Bulldogs. After the service he taught school in Richmond County for 28 years where he served as teacher, disciplinarian and assistant principal. He coached youth baseball for the Richmond County Recreation Department for a number of years. He is survived by his sons, Kenneth E. Boose (Maria) of Evans and Phillip W. Boose (Kimberly) of Asheville, N.C., and six grandchildren, Ashley Boose, Kenneth E. Boose Jr., Hunter Boose, Evan Boose, Christian Boose and Miss Katie Boose. Graveside services will be held Friday, September 19, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Chaplain Ken Gross officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Seigler, Bill Seigler, Billy Mitchell, Doc Swilley, Bobby Eubanks, Bobby Banks and Daryl Bulloch. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Thomas Poteet and Son.
