AUGUSTA, Ga. - Janice Lee Hartzler Reedstrom, 70, entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Sunday, September 14, 2008, at Heartland Hospice. She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Bertha Hartzler, of Lakefield, Minnesota. Jan was a resident of Evans, Georgia for the last 13 years, and was a member of Advent Lutheran Church. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at 3:00 PM at Advent Lutheran Church, with the Reverend Matthew Lash officiating. Visitation with the family will begin at 2:00 PM. Survivors include her beloved husband, Dale Reedstrom; daughter Ingrid (Jack) Zamecnik of Evans, GA; son Jon (Jane) Reedstrom of Massillon, OH; daughter Anne Reedstrom of Philadelphia, PA; grandchildren Lillian and Aaron Zamecnik, Joshua Clemons, Taylor Reedstrom, and great-granddaughter Courtney Clemons. Also surviving Jan are sisters Shirley Joann Browning of Harmony, MN and Kathy Hartzler of Lakefield, MN and brother Richard (Charlotte) Hartzler of Worthington, MN. A native of Lakefield, Minnesota, Jan graduated from Mankato State University with a degree in teaching. She taught Home Economics before starting a family, and continued to teach sewing in the community for years. She was very active in education at Nativity Lutheran Church, and graduated from Luther-Northwestern Theological Seminary in 1981 with a Master's Degree in Christian Education. She worked as a Director of Christian Education in several Twin Cities Metro Area United Methodist churches, and in 1995 graduated and was ordained a Diaconal Minister by the United Theological Seminary in St. Paul. In 1995 she and her husband Dale moved to Evans, Georgia to be near their grandchildren. Jan was passionate about children, and volunteered at Greenbrier Elementary and McBean Elementary, and also volunteered as a Child Advocate for DFACS. She loved to travel and quilt in her spare time. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 18 at Advent Lutheran.
