NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Mrs. Ethelyn Hutto Carpenter, 94, of Wildwood Drive, entered into rest Sunday, September 14, 2008 at her residence. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 17, 2008, in Rowland Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tony Rhodes officiating. Interment will be in Pineview Memorial Park. Mrs. Carpenter was a life-long resident of Aiken County, SC. She was a member of the Christian Heritage Church in Graniteville. Mrs. Carpenter was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen T. Carpenter and her three sons, Joe Carpenter, S.T. Carpenter, Jr. and Frank Carpenter. Survivors include four sons, Sam Carpenter and Gordon (Mary) Carpenter, all of Belvedere, Tony (Beverly) Carpenter and Barry Carpenter, all of North Augusta; two daughters, Nellie C. McKenzie (Henry) and Eva Burke (Dan), all of North Augusta; 36 grandchildren. She had a total of 170 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Mrs. Carpenter's family spanned five generations. Pallbearers will be grandsons. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
