AUGUSTA, Ga. - Graveside services for Mrs. Myrtis Hardy Edwards, 96, of St. John Towers, entered into rest September 13, 2008 will be conducted Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock in Pineview Memorial Park. Rev. James McDaniel officiating. Mrs. Edwards was a native of Blythe, Georgia and had resided in the Augusta/North Augusta for many years. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Butler Hardy and Julia Fulcher Hardy. Mrs. Edwards was a switchboard operator at the Winecoff Hotel, which was destroyed by fire in 1946, in Atlanta, GA. She retired from Augusta's Fine Products Co., also known as the Hollingsworth Candy Company after several decades of service. She enjoyed gardening, serving her extended family, friends and her membership at Central Christian Church of Augusta. Her Christian example was a gift to all she came in contact with and an integral part of her daily life. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Bernice H. Turner, Betty H. Sutton, brothers, Samuel F. Hardy, Burke A. Hardy, Samuel B. Hardy, Jr. and Carl V. Hardy. Survivors include her beloved husband of 59 years, Joe F. Edwards, nieces, nephews and their families and devoted friends who lovingly provided care for her along with her doctors and their staffs.
