COLUMBIA - New estimates of HIV cases in South Carolina shows the infection rate among blacks is higher than for all other races combined.
The estimates released last week by state Department of Health and Environmental Control also show that men are infected at nearly twice the rate of women.
The estimates come from an analysis of repeat blood tests and testing history from people who initially were diagnosed in 2006.
Before, the state could only count the number of cases detected not track the true number of new infections.
The number of cases detected has declined steadily over the past several years.
DHEC estimates there were 990 new cases in 2006, while the number of people diagnosed that year was 777.

People more abstinence less promiscuous sex will go along ways towards keeping others in your families safe from this disease...Sex is not the beginning and end to a person's joy contrary to popular opinion...If you believe it is then by golly have the decency to use protection...
Sex may not be the joy but the cause of out numbering whity has been important. I have heard this expression for years. Well, if you use a condom or abstain then you can't make babies and out number whity. That's why we invented AIDS don't you know.
I rate those who knowingly have the aids virus and spread it without consequence to be in the same category as serial killers....As such they need to be held in a secure facility for the rest of their natural lives....

crazyirish, I have heard theories about the population boom. I guess its has been tried with Catholics , Mormons to name a few. The Hispanic population will dwarf them all before it is said and done...
