COLUMBIA, S.C. - Memorial Services for Rev. J. Louis Fowke, 83, of O'Hara Court, Columbia, SC, who entered into rest September 11, 2008 will be conducted this Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock from Rehoboth United Methodist Church, Columbia, SC with Rev. James R. Davis officiating. Graveside Services will be held Monday morning at 11 o'clock in the Sunset Hill Cemetery, North Augusta. Rev. Fowke was a native of North Augusta having made Columbia his home for the past 8 years. He was a graduate of North Augusta High School and Wofford College and U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He was a retired United Methodist Church Minister having served Warrenville UMC, Warrenville, SC, Lowell Street UMC, Greenwood, SC, Mt. Hebron UMC, West Columbia and St. Luke UMC, Walhalla. Rev. Fowke served on the South Carolina Methodist Church Program Council and was the Director of Child Care and Minister of Epworth Children's Home for over 17 years. Rev. Fowke was named Pastor Emeritus of both Warrenville UMC and Rehoboth UMC. His love and concern for the people he served was limitless. His patience and strength during his years of disability have been a wonderful example to others. His family honors him and rejoices in his life and legacy. Rev. Fowke was the son of the late Louis Linwood Fowke and Susan "Toula" Glover Fowke. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Constance "Connie" Fowke, Columbia, SC; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Ken Wood, Columbia, SC, Susan and John Lemmon, Charlotte, NC; one sister, Katherine Weaver, Culpeper, VA; four grandchildren, Andrea W. Derrick, David K. Wood, Scott A. Lemmon, Nicholas G. Lemmon; four great-grandchildren, Kenny Derrick, Isabelle Wood, Ivy Wood and Noah Wood; one step-great-grandchild, Hayden Gamarra. The family will receive friends following the Memorial Service this Sunday and the Graveside Service on Monday.
