Allison Dorn (GREENWOOD, S.C.)

GREENWOOD, S.C. - Allison H. 'Al' Dorn, 80, resident of 111 Winston Court West, husband of Betty Russell Dorn, died September 13, 2008 at Self Regional Medical Center. Born in Edgefield County, November 16, 1927, he was a son of the late Willie and Emmie Thurmond Dorn. He was a graduate of then Washington High School near Parksville. Mr. Dorn retired from DuPont, Savannah River Plant after thirty-five years service. A resident of Greenwood since 2001, Mr. & Mrs. Dorn continue to maintain their residence in Parksville where he formerly served as Mayor. He was a former member and Treasurer of Parksville Baptist Church. Mr. Dorn was a member of Laurel Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his beloved wife of the home are a daughter, Brenda D. Milford of Greenwood and a son, Henry A. and wife, Faith Dorn of Greenwood; three granddaughters, Lindsay D. and husband, Patrick Gardner, Elizabeth Dorn and Katherine Dorn. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday at Laurel Baptist Church with Reverend Scott Dublin and Reverend Robbie Stollger officiating. Burial will be in Parksville Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ferrel Percival, Samuel Walker, Allen Williams, Gary Blanchard, Warren Brown, Gene Nix, Marion McDaniel, Vernon Allen and Shorty Adams. The body is at Blyth Funeral Home and will be placed in the church at 10:00 AM Monday. The family is at the home in Brentwood Hills and will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-7:30 Sunday evening.
