That's money we should use to take care of someone if only the kids would learn right from wrong. It's a shame we can't hold people accountable.
Drug raid on home nets eight arrests
THOMSON --- Eight people were taken into custody on drug charges Friday after a raid by local and state authorities on a home in McDuffie County. An undisclosed amount of cocaine and cash was seized.
Gary Nicholson, the special agent in-charge of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Office in Thomson, said all eight suspects were arrested about 3 p.m. at a mobile home off Dallas Drive. The names of the suspects and charges against them were not immediately made public.
All eight were on the property at the time police launched an explosive device into the home, Agent Nicholson said. Several of the suspects ran out the back door and were captured.
The raid was conducted by GBI agents with help from sheriff's deputies in McDuffie, Columbia and Richmond counties.

Schools gets grant to increase security
The Richmond County school board Public Safety Department was awarded a $554,000 grant to increase security on its campuses.
The U.S. Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Services grant will provide up to 50 percent of the cost of installing metal detectors, locks, lighting and other equipment to deter crime. The grants can also be used to cover half of the cost of security assessments and training.
Since 1995, COPS has invested more than $11.3 billion to support community policing, including grants awarded to more than 13,600 state and local law enforcement agencies.

Security at schools---what has this country come to?
"It's the media's fault for giving us a negative image." It has nothing to do with how kids, look, speak, dress, etc....YEAH RIGHT!!!
It is not the media's fault. It starts with you, your parent's, tv and life today. The kid's today have it a heck of lot easier today than in the past. They have everything today. They are spoiled rotten. The parent's give them money so they can go out and go to the mall so they do not have to listen to them at home. The kids of today need to learn responsibility. Now not all kids are like that, there are some great ones.
What a shame that our society, and schools, has degraded to such a low state. When I was a kid in school the only security system we needed, and had, was a principal with a BOARD! Between that and the parents we didn't need full time police in school. What a sad state of affairs our society is today..........And some of you want more liberals in charge. It will only get worse.
When I was in school, kids usually got in trouble for chewing gum in class, throwing spit balls, or smoking in the restroom. And, if you got in trouble at school, you got in trouble at home. Your folks knew about what happened even before you walked through the kitchen door! Parents "policed" each others children, and no one got upset if another parent reprimanded someone else's child. Times sure have changed! Oh, almost forgot, we had a moment of prayer too.
Amen, coalminer. 'n' dat's de troof.
