BROOKLET, Ga. - Elder Emory Proctor, age 74, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at his home in Brooklet, Ga. He was a minister, a school teacher, a social worker, a rehabilitation counselor, a hospital administrator, as well as a devoted husband, father, and trusted friend to everyone he met. He was a native of Bulloch County and graduated from Stilson High School in 1950, after which he served four years in the United States Air Force. Mr. Proctor attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1958. He received a Master's Degree from Georgia Southern and spent his entire professional career in the service of God and his fellow man. He was ordained to the ministry in 1961 at Lanes Primitive Baptist Church, and was active in the Primitive Baptist ministry for 48 years. In 1969 he founded and served as Pastor of Grace Primitive Baptist Church in Savannah, Ga. Elder Proctor taught in the Savannah public school system for several years and worked 34 years with the State of Georgia Department of Vocational Rehabilitation. In 1980, he was named Director of the Deaf-Blind Unit at the Roosevelt-Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation in Warm Springs, Ga. He retired in 1991 as the Institute's Director of Independent Living Services. After retirement, Elder Proctor served as Pastor of churches in Georgia and Florida, finally settling down in Brooklet, Ga., in 1999. He continued his ministry in Bulloch County, serving the Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church in Stilson for several years. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Kay McCormick Proctor of Brooklet; his son and daughter- in-law, Cliff and Rosalyn K. Proctor of Augusta; his daughter and son-in-law, Emily P. and Jon Strickland of Dallas; his grandchildren, Ben and Erin Proctor, Logan and Kaylan Ray, and Brandon and Kayla Strickland; his twin brother, Elder Emerson Proctor, his older brother, William C. Proctor; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 11, 2008 from 6:00 until 8 PM at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place Friday at 11 AM at Lanes Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Lee Chambers officiating. Elder Bill Durrence will lead the graveside service. Burial will be at Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Wayne Carson, Patrick McCormick, David Proctor, Derek Proctor, Mark Proctor, Mike Proctor, Ronnie Proctor and Terry Proctor. Honorary pallbearers will be Primitive Baptist Ministers and Larry Floyd, Dominick Strozzo, Ed Mock and Kenneth Shuman. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Lanes Primitive Baptist Church, 1022 Lanes Church Road, Brooklet, GA 30415 or to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P. O.
