Today is a day for America to remember
Letter to the Editor
Thursday, September 11, 2008

In the Aug. 29 addition of the Augusta Chronicle under the headline "Gross misconceptions of Islam," a free pass was given to promote the Muslim religion without a rebuttal of any kind.

Today, Sept. 11, 2008, we remember what Muslims did to our America. Shortly after the 9-11 attack, our local mosque held an open house that I attended. I expected a guided tour through the buildings with displays and information about their culture and religion. Instead we were ushered into a large room surrounded by men, dressed in black suits, facing the seated visitors. A woman moderator was introduced and within a few moments she explained to us that Muslims have the right to defend themselves.

Today, let us remember 9-11 and what happened that day; the loved ones we lost; and why we are at war.
