AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Lillie Mae Tanksley, 89, widow of the late Reverend M.O. Tanksley, Sr., entered into rest Monday, September 8, 2008, at Heartland Hospice. She was a private duty infant nurse for many years. Mrs. Tanksley was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Evans, Ga., where she served in many of the church ministries including, M.O. Tanksley Choir, Women's Club, Women Mission, Deaconess Union, and Sandhill Seniors Flower Club. Surviors are; three daughters, Juanita Burns, Elizabeth (Henry) Jordan, Bernice (Ernest) Daggett, all of Augusta; three sons, Michael (Lillie) Tanksley of Augusta, Reverend Lewis J. (Carolyn) Tanksley of Grovetown, Melvin (Catherine) Tanksley of Evans; two sisters, Mertis Cummings, Lucille Marshall; two brothers, Marion Harris, Bennie Harris; 22 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren; 11 great- great-grandchildren; 3 god children; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Youth Department and Scholarship Fund.
