SUWANEE, Ga. - Mr. Edward James Coleman, Jr. died Monday, September 8, 2008 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. He was born September 12, 1925 in Syracuse, New York. He graduated from Most Holy Rosary Catholic School and Syracuse University. During World War II, Ed served with the United States Marine Corps, Pacific Area, Third Marine Air Wing. He was employed by Libbey Owens Ford Glass Company from 1951 - 1988. Ed is survived by his wife, Jeraldine Carpenter Coleman, whom he married November 18, 1950. He is survived by six children: Anne Coleman Lehman and Dean Gillespie Lehman of Longmont, Colorado, Karen Coleman Hirons and Allen Russell Hirons of Marietta, Georgia, Judith Coleman McFarland and Clifford Earl McFarland of Houston, Texas, Amy Coleman Martin and Jonathan Peter Martin of Charlotte, North Carolina, Edward James Coleman, III and Catherine Took Coleman of Augusta, Georgia, and Jane Coleman Smith and Matthew Neal Smith of Atlanta, Georgia. Ed is survived by his sister Anne Coleman Leibs of Oriskany, New York. Survivors also include ten grandchildren: Jennifer Rebecca Lehman, Gregory Michael Lehman, Warren Edward Hirons and Natalie Guill Hirons, Scott Emerson Hirons, Mark Carpenter Hirons, Coleman Emery McFarland, Emily Alexandra Martin, Emma Leigh Coleman, Benton Edward Smith and Parker Jane Smith. Ed was an active member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 6439 Spout Springs Road, Flowery Branch, Georgia. The Reverend Jose' Luis Hernandez Ayala will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens with military honors, 5979 New Bethany Road, Buford, Georgia. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 o'clock in the evening at the funeral home with a Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel.
