BEECH ISLAND, S.C. - Entered the arms of the Lord Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008, at his home, Mr. James O. Sheppard, 76, of Beech Island, SC, beloved husband of fifty-years to Mrs. Mary Daphne Livingston Sheppard and son of the late Ollie Owen and Eunice Wilson Sheppard. Born in Jefferson County, GA, he had lived in Augusta, GA, prior to coming to the area thirty-nine years ago. He retired from Kimberly Clark where he was a Lead Operator after twenty-seven years of service. He enjoyed hard work, gardening and his dogs. His family and his church (New Life Church of the Nazarene) were very important to him. A Korean War Veteran, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. In addition to his wife, family members include daughters, Mary Patricia Schmitz, (Archie) Beech Island, SC and Beverly Moore, (Fred) Beech Island, SC; brother, Julian Sheppard, Evans, GA; grandchildren, Mary Robin Conner, Knoxville, TN and Jason Philip Powell, Aiken, SC; and great- grandchildren, who referred to him as 'Pawpee', Mary Lauren Conner, Aimee Noelle Conner, Kyrston Powell, Alexis Powell, Philip Powell and Allyson Patricia Conner. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 6th, 2008, at 2 o'clock at Augusta First Church of the Nazarene with Pastors David Roland, Thom Harvey and Charles Horne officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery, Augusta, GA. Pallbearers will be Jason Philip Powell, Robert Wayne Conner, Joseph Morris, Cliff Bridges, Fred Moore and Archie Schmitz. To show the appreciation for the care provided to Mr. Sheppard, the family has asked that memorials be made to Liberty Hospice 610 Aldrich St., NE, Aiken, SC 29801.
