Grand jury indicts 3 men in June slayings
A Richmond County grand jury returned murder indictments this week in two homicides.
Charles M. Tyler, 26, was indicted on charges of murder, armed robbery, burglary and weapon charges in the June 4 killing of 59-year-old David Fulkrod.
Mr. Fulkrod was killed while working security at CMC Recycling on Old Savannah Road. In a separate indictment, Willie Coe, 24, and Dennis Mingledolph, 20, were charged with murder. They are accused of killing 65-year-old Johnny W. Davis on Luckey Street on June 30.
Program will focus on Internet safety
Parents and students are invited to attend a Back to School Internet Safety Forum in Augusta on Wednesday evening.
The program is focused on ways to prevent the victimization of children online, and it will be led by Cindy Marlow, the training specialist for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Assistant U.S. Attorney Julie Wade and Immigration and Custom Enforcement Special Agent Thomas West will also speak and participate in a panel discussion. The forum is sponsored by the U.S. Attorney's Office and Crimestoppers, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Edmund A. Booth Jr.
Second man arrested after boating death
Police have arrested a second man they say smashed into a boat on the Intracoastal Waterway while fleeing from a burglary, killing a 13-year-old Aiken boy.
Sgt. Robert Kegler says 28-year-old Nicholas Macklen turned himself in to Horry County police Tuesday. He was charged with first-degree burglary and conspiracy.
Police arrested 22-year-old Brandon Scott McDevitt on Monday on the same charges. Authorities say the men broke into a house and stole a television before taking off in a boat and crashing into another vessel near Socastee.
The wreck killed Shayne Odermatt and seriously injured three others.
