Jewel, you have watched to much MSNBC. Can you imagine if Gore had been Pres and had to deal with the crises that GW has had to deal with? Agree, he's not the best we've had but at least he's man enough to protect our freedom.
What's wrong with America is not the liberal media, the Obamas or the Clintons. What's wrong with America are its ill-informed citizens who get spoon-fed their talking points from TV and radio pundits, and vote solely along party lines.
Bill Clinton is certainly no saint, but compared to George W. Bush he's Mother Teresa. During that scoundrel Clinton's presidency, the average income went up $7,500, whereas during Bush's administration it dropped $2,000. The deficit has grown from $5.7 trillion when Bush took office to $9.6 trillion and counting (what a fiscal conservative!).
What about scandals? I'll list a few but since I'm limited to 300 words, I can't mention them all. The biggest and most costly was Bush lying to get us into the Iraq War -- not lying just once but again and again. Here are a few others: warrantless wiretaps; outing Valerie Plame; the U.S. attorney firings; the Walter Reed conditions; the Katrina debacle; Medicare Part D (written by the drug companies!); the trade deficit rising from $385 billion to $811 billion, a 111-percent increase; negative votes and voter suppression during the 2000 elections; the 2004 recounts; no bid-contracts to Halliburton; Halliburton's toxic trailers; suspending habeas corpus; and sanctioning torture (so-called "enhanced interrogation techniques").
Over the past eight years, George W. Bush has managed to drive the economy into the ground and shred the Constitution in the process. He has brought more shame to the presidency and America than any other president in history. He makes Richard Nixon look like a Boy Scout.
So before you start blaming the liberals for all the wrongs in the world, why not take a long ,hard look at the conservatives. They have been doing a bang-up job themselves.
Jewel Pullen, Grovetown
Jewel, you have watched to much MSNBC. Can you imagine if Gore had been Pres and had to deal with the crises that GW has had to deal with? Agree, he's not the best we've had but at least he's man enough to protect our freedom.
Name ONE right in the constitution that YOU have had taken from you by the president.
Hey Jewel Pullen, I bet I know what you've been pullen. Must be some good stuff for the garbage you made up. In case you didn't pass Government 101, the pursestrings of this country are controlled by Congress, not the president. And, Ms. Pullen, congress has been controlled by your wonderful Democrats for the past 2 years, about the time gas prices began spiking, and the economy went to Hell! Its probably the same reason that congressional approval has gone from 23% when they took office to 9% now. Yeah, that's some change Obama's party has made. The question is how much more change this country can take if he's elected and congress stays the same and survive. And Jewel, do you really want to get into scandals? Monicagate? Whitewatergate? Travelgate? JohnEdwardsgate? You want me to go on? Both parties have plenty of scandals, so don't preach like your Democrats are flying around on angels wings!
Two planes flew into the WTC, three out of four Americans wanted war, remember the polls. Saddam was defiant and wouldn't allow UN inspections and openly treatened us and our allies, remember. Trade deficit, NAFTA, remember. Katrina, evacuations were called for before the storm, remember. All new administrations fire judges and replace them with their own, even Clinton, remember. Water boarding and sleep deprivation of suspected terrorists, maybe we should video tape as we cut their heads off like they do Americans, remember. How many terrorist attacks have we had since, oh that's easy, none? A lot of people have short, selective memories.
Thank you for the reminder Thurston Howell. Well said!!!
J. Pullen, Who you foolin', besides yourself? When national security is at stake I am for warrantless wiretaps; Outing Valerie Plame was a non-event, it seems everybody in the spy business knew she was a halfass spy all along; Don't forget its not illegal for the prez to fire attorneys; the Walter Reed conditions took years to reach their state of debilitation, your prez Clinton is just as responsible; the Katrina debacle was a result of Nagen not using his noggin and other La. state officials not doing their job; Bush is not perfect but your facts are askew & far reaching. Go ahead & vote for Obama wiith opinions like yours he needs all the help he can get.
How many has this sacrifice saved fd?? Ask a soldier who's been there before you throw up two fingers and say "peace man."
fd1962, Canada offers all of the things you say you want.
Pullen take your blinders off and quit listening to the Liberal Press. The white rabbit you chased down that hole is leading you astray Alice.
I can't go through all the issues on either side of this, but seems I recall that there was no connection between Sadam Hussein and the terrorists attack on the twin towers and other sites.
Yeah, Jewel, and Bush did all of this on his own, didn't he? 99% of your blattherings are impeachable offenses. Yet has he been impeached by a democratically controlled congress that is drooling at the mouth trying to find such? You, my dear are an idiot, go back to drinking your democratic kool aide and take fd with you! By the way fd, tell me again how many years you served in the military and how many times our planes were fired on in the UN imposed no fly zone?
SisterAbdullah, I do have to say that I was much more comfortable consorting with known terrorists over the phone before President Bush took office than I am these days. He has taken that right away from me with his "illegal wiretapping".
If I remember correctly Germany didn't bomb Pearl Harbor. Ain't it cute when we say these really intelligent things that mean nothing, Unclebill.
Anyone that disparages our armed forces personel as sacrifices of a certain political persuasion is a demented idiot. Those sacrifices were made out of love of country and living up to the commitment they made to protect this country from enemies foreign and domestic. Congress (that means dems and repubs) voted for action in Iraq. The soldier does not make policy he only enforces it. It's funny to me that they protect idiots like yourself so you can blather on and on about how you hate Bush and your country. Maybe our real enemy is domestically located.
Its okay, all the rednecks on this board can slap each other on the back, they are still in the minority who are still foolish enough to think Bush has lead the country in the right direction. The letter writer, nor I are claiming democratic leadership is the answer. Some of you show you are programmed to follow anything by party name by your defensiveness. Notice she also wrote that Bush made Nixon look like a boyscout. Nixon was also a Republican. Hint hint illiterate morons, she was trying to show you that it was not a partisan letter. Unfortunately these words will still confuse you of low intellect. Just keep gruntning like apes and pounding your chests. Urgh Urggh, Bush good, urgh urgh!
You are correct, he has been a bad president. Given the opportunity, he did NOT eliminate the federal Dept of Ed, but increased its role in your child's education. He did NOT fight to preserve Social Security, and instead let Dems intimidate him. He chose NOT to stand against the pressure for a new entitlement, but to wimp out and let the new Medicare benefit roll over him. However, the DailyKos talking points Pullen parrots are nothing more than that--talking points. Avg income has gone UP in the U.S. in the last 8 years, the top 5% of earners now pay MORE tax, both dollars and percentage of total, than they did 8 years ago, bottom 50% of earners pay nearly ZERO fed tax. Bush did NOT lie to "get us into war," and only a sick mind can believe that the US was not obligated to enforce UN resolutions against a brutal dictator whose policy enforcement arm consisted of his sons' rape rooms ("women's issues," anyone?). It's not the president's job to clean the mold at Walter Reed; when the nation learned about that, the PENTAGON acted appropriately. The trade deficit is up b/c the price of oil has tripled due to liberal wacko anti-drilling zealotry.
It's not easy to get "bids" on work for which only one company is willing to assume the risk. Guess what? The Social Security Administration is a "no-bid" entity. Oh, the horror! (Well, yes, it is a horror, but not for reasons liberals would comprehend). Even Time magazine, the NYT, and the Village Voice have acknowledged that Gore could have won every point in the disputed Florida recount, and STILL would have lost; your neighborhood socialist cell newsletter does not count as "journalism," so don't cite it. So, yes, Bush has incurred necessary expenses (War on Terror) while not cutting unnecessary expenses (cow flatulence research and bridges to nowhere), thus leading to record deficits/debt. He is no conservative. He HAS, however, appointed judges who actually READ the Constitution and APPLY it in their rulings, so the idea that he has "shredded" the Constitution is puerile. If he had wanted to shred it, he would have had Ginsberg or Kennedy advise him on his nominations. Pullen is right...Bush has been a bad, president, b/c he has been far to solicitous of the Pullens of the world, rather than governing like a big boy who actually had the first 3-branch mandate in...100 years?
wow, imd is so stupid, that he thinks that conservatives are too stupid to read. "hint hint" to you, you brainless blob of liberal goo, unable to think for yourself or construct a coherent argument: when Pullen says that Bush (a republican) is a "criminal" and compares him to Nixon (a republican) who committed crimes in office, it is jaw-droppingly stupid of you to say that that shows "it was not a partisan letter." See, if it were not a "partisan letter," she would have compared Bush to the only modern president to have had articles of impeachment sworn against him: Bill Clinton. THAT would have been "nonpartisan." Problem is, most of us do not WANT "nonpartisan." My party is right. Your party is wrong. Therefore, I want to defeat your party in the polls and in the larger culture, to carry out the ideals of my party. Liberals' idea of "bipartisanship" is the McCain model: republicans voting with liberals so that liberals will like them. Somehow, the second part of that never comes true... Sigh. If Bush had been a conservative, instead of a weenie, and if congress would have grown a pair on the Social Security issue and others, I could be proud to be a republican.
It's been nearly seven years since the Twin Towers fell. Seven years of fighting terrorists whose goal was further death and destruction against the US. President Bush did not do everything Republicans wanted him to do - but he kept us safe for seven years when everyone was sure we'd be attacked again and again. Thank you, President Bush, for your dogged determination to fulfill your first responsibility to our nation.
We wanted the people who did the attrocities at the WTC.W and gang had a differant idea by blaming Iraq and making up lies about it. If you were against the war you were unpatriotic even though you served your country for 2 years in another flub ie: Viet Nam. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED,yea where is Bin Ladden? Bush and company set the war on terror on the side burner by sending minimal troops to look fo the terrorists. Now we are finally beefing up those troops.Russia lost the battle in Afghanistan, what were we going to do with two or three thousand troops there? The real hypocricy of it all is that we are not even close to ending the war on terror, but we did win the war in a country that would never allow those people in. Hussein was more afraid of losing his country to them than by us. All I hear is the Dems controlled for two years, what about the six without them? Oh ,I forgot they were cleaning up Clintons mess. Right now as we speak every thing that tries to get accomplished gets philabustered so that it doesn't get passed or it gets vetoed by W.
Well, I've been reading the comments on articles for months and months and have thought of so many things to say, but now that I'm here, I'm almost speechless! lol Guess I'll go have another cup of coffee and do some more reading, but I would like to say that I agree with whoever said that Ms. Jewel Pullen of Grovetown has been drinking kool-aid. Sheeesh, the shrill, angry left just keeps on.....it would be funny if it weren't so serious!
I've never heard such an idiot before. And I thought Columbia County had good schools.
As it is, I just have to be proud to be a conservative, and hope that the party trends away from McCain and towards Palin. Y'all have a nice day...
Thanks John. I almost laughed out laugh when Imdstuf said it wasn't a partisian letter. And then called everyone else morons. Even the libs on the board must have choked.
All you Bush bashers remember 1 thing -- the last four years the congress has been Demo controlled and slipped to a lower rating than the Repubs. ever -- if being Demo is so good why is things in the shape they are now????????????/

You know, Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot and Mao ALSO operated only "within their own borders," as they defined them. According to those murderous thugs, they had every right to gas, firebomb and otherwise slaughter their citizens. Clinton appeared to agree with that philosophy, as he backed UN resolutions "deploring" situations like Rwanda and Somalia (not to mention Iraq), but did nothing serious about them. Clinton's lower-lip-biting stance having been shown to be ineffective, Bush decided to try something new: we'll just go ahead and keep a list of state sponsors of terror, and when the negatives start adding up too, too much, we'll do something about it. So Hussein was running rape rooms and creating mass graves; had USED WMD against his own people; kicked out the only people on the planet who could've argued that he was not pursuing WMD; claimed, himself, Iraq's right to obtain nuclear weapons; did in fact have 500 tons of proscribed uranium; claimed to have destroyed weapons that were later found smuggled out of Iraq; violated every UN resolution re: Iraq; PAID BOUNTIES TO THE FAMILIES OF SUICIDE BOMBERS. Yep, no, I can see your point, imd, fd, wannabe..."Bush lied." Keep saying it
