'Mamma Mia!'
RELEASED: July 18
MPAA RATING: PG-13
THE PLOT: Sophie, a 20-year-old living on a Greek island, is about to get married. She has no idea who her father is, so she sends wedding invitations to three men who have the possibility of being her father.
MY THOUGHTS: This was one of the most entertaining movies I saw this summer.
All of the scenes are filled with so much energy that it makes the film move at a rapid pace. Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried are amazing in their roles as mother and daughter.
My only complaint is that Pierce Brosnan's singing was disappointing. While visually he was a good match for Ms. Streep, vocally he was not. Nevertheless, all of the songs were fun, and I found myself singing them for the rest of the day.

'The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor'
RELEASED: Aug. 1
MPAA RATING: PG-13
THE PLOT: Years after Rick and Evie O'Connell battled the mummy Imhotep in Egypt and their son, Alex, battled the Scorpion King, they thought they were done with mummies -- until Alex unearths the tomb of the Dragon Emperor. With his parents and Uncle Jonathan along for the ride, Alex has to set the mummy to rest once and for all.
MY THOUGHTS: Like the rest of The Mummy saga, the cheesy visual and sound effects are present, but that just adds to the fun.

'Pineapple Express'
RELEASED: Aug. 6
RATED: R
MY THOUGHTS: The commercials for this movie represent the plot perfectly in 30 seconds. Pineapple Express is packed with the conventional male buddy-film counterparts, illegal drug references, immature innuendo and a dynamic relationship between the main characters, superbly played by Seth Rogan and James Franco.
This movie certainly entertains and delivers the laughs to an audience willing to withstand the undeniably juvenile and unrealistic scenarios.
