MARTINEZ, Ga. - Entered into rest Monday, September 1, 2008, at Doctors Hospital, Mr. Dane Stanford, 78, beloved husband of 52 years to Betty Cooper Stanford. Mr. Stanford was a native of Ashburn, GA and had resided in the Augusta area since 1977. He was a veteran of the US Navy, Korean Conflict and served on the USS Perry. He attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. Mr. Stanford was a retired manager of the Augusta State Farmers Market. He was a past member of the Rotary Club of Augusta and a member of New Heights Baptist Church where he was a deacon. Family members in addition to his wife include his daughter and son-in-law: Lisa Stanford Gee and John of Jacksonville, FL; son: William Dane (Bill) Stanford of Augusta; grandson: Adam Joseph Gee; sister and brother-in-law: Betty Jo Owens and Alton of Ashburn, GA and devoted canine companions: Bonnie and Bambi. A cremation Memorial service will be held Thursday, September 4, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at New Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Lloyd Green officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 17 Executive Park, Suite 115, Atlanta, GA 30329.
