Remember back in May when we all thought gas was going to top $4 a gallon any minute? We had a contest to pick that day and about 100 of you sent in your guesses?

The summer came and went and the gas prices went down.

Now we only have two people waiting to see whether their date wins. One is late September and the other on Election Day in November.

POSTCARD CLOSEOUT: The price of gas didn't seem to alter summer travel patterns because I've still got a bunch of vacation postcards.

Brothers L.W. and William Helmly attended the Chevrolet Nomad National Show in Charleston, W.Va. The Nomad was a unique station wagon of 1955, 1956 and 1957. L.W.'s restored Nomad is said to be a multiple winner.

Tim and Connie from Wilkes County sent a card from Pennsylvania.

Louise Sanders traveled with the Millbrook Baptist Church on a riverboat cruise in Russia. Also in Russia are Tommye Earhart and Kristin Snyder.

Apple and Al were enjoying great weather in Germany, and they say Prague at night is beautiful.

Pat Harter bowled in the Georgia Special Olympics with friends from Lynndale West. Brought home a bronze medal.

Mike, Julie, Jessica and Stephanie, of North Augusta, are having an awesome time in California.

Saba Zerom, of Norway, sent a postcard from Georgia. He says he was in Augusta to visit friends because he used to live here.

And Bill Fowler , daughter Laurie , son-in-law Randal Crook and grandchildren Patrick , Scott , Jeff and Katie, of North Augusta and Evans, are out west where the "Four Corners" states come together.

Finally, Dr. Paul Gustafson, of Martinez, shares a photo from "our bicycle trip along the Erie Canal (400 miles) from Buffalo to Albany.
