Teenagers arrested in death of store owner

DENMARK, S.C. --- Authorities accuse two Denmark teenagers of killing an 88-year-old store owner by shooting him in the back during a robbery.

According to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, Jason Wilson and Mark Brown Jr. face murder charges in the death of store owner Alfred Edward Myers. The two 18-year-olds were arrested late Friday.

Warrants accuse the men of going to Mr. Myers' store Thursday intending to rob him, then fleeing after shooting him.

Bamberg County Coroner Billy Duncan has said Mr. Myers died on the way to the hospital.

The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg reported Mr. Myers had run the store since the 1970s when he took over for his father.
