AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. James Raymond 'Pops' Gillum, age 74, entered into rest on Friday, August 22, 2008 at University Hospital. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at Hillcrest Memorial Park at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Bryan Cockrell officiating. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Cheryl Kimbrel Gillum, one sister, Hazel Ward of Lebanon, OH, One step-son, Greg James and his wife Amy of Harlem, three grandchildren, Scott D. Gillum, Rev. Steve D. Gillum and his wife Emily, and Melissa J. Gillum. and one step- grandson, Carden James. One son, the late David L. Gillum, one daughter in law, JoAnne Gillum. James served in the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of WW II. He retired from the Civil Service as a mechanic. He attended Grove First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Grove First Baptist Church at 108 W. Robinson Ave. Grovetown, GA 30813.
