Three armed robberies, road closings, and when to water. Nice job guys. You people really earned your pay today.

i didnt realize it was armed robbery weekend, damn, and i missed out
$350.00 in his wallet, how many people walk aroung with that much cash in their wallet? Come on people be realistic, odds are you'll never see it anyway, so why lie?
Why can't the AC post the number's of the water management district?
patriciathomas - does your comment mean that you think the newspaper is not doing a particularly good job? If so, why not write a letter to the editor where it may do some good?
And so it goes round and round...
Why can't you look in a phone book and find the numbers yourself?
singular, my comment is an ongoing lament over the loss of Dennis Sodomka. I don't feel a LTE will carry any more weight then a comment in hinterland.
panther-
Some folks like myself don't do banks or credit, so it's not unusual for me to have cash on hand exceeding $350 or more on any given day. But I don't think anyone will reach in my front pocket without me knowing it. I stopped carrying a wallet a long time ago. It's the fat wallet that makes pickpockets and stand-up robbers so inclined to attempt to take your cash. SO carry it smarter if you intend to carry it at all.
Well lets see, $350.00 today is about a full tank of gas, so that seems about right. Did anyone else realized that 2 out 0f 3 robberies took place in West Augusta? Man, I got to move to a safer location. LOL I think a better point would be, where in the hell are you coming from at 5:00 a.m.?
To GoalieMom: Where should the Chronicle stop when publishing the numbers of the water utilities? We have Augusta, Hephzibah, Blythe, Columbia Co., Grovetown, Harlem, McDuffie Co., Warren Co., Waynesboro, Sylvania, Lincolnton, Wrens, Louisville, Davisboro, Riddleville, Wrightsville, Millen, and more. There are so many numbers in the area that the Chronicle serves. I wish the Chronicle would quit printing the watering restrictions EVERY DAY! The watering restrictions do not change that often. They should publish them only when there is a change.
FFH, some people do go to work early in the a.m. hours. Just because you and I might be asleep at 5:00 a.m. doesn't mean other law abiding citizens aren't out trying to make a living. Actually, it doesn't matter where the victim was coming from or going to that early in the morning. The problem was with the criminal, not the victim.
LOL..panther...350.00 is chickenfeed...............
Thanks for saving me the trouble King James. My ex used to leave for work at 4am on dayshift and come in from work about 5am on night shift. Give or take a little depending on overtime. Thousands of people do the same thing. A lot of people in my old community have walked at 4am in their neighborhood or at the local track in the summer before work to stay fit for their jobs, such as masons, care-givers, nurses, etc., especially in summer to beat the heat. Not as many do, because as the above reports attest and victims of crimes there have told me, it is just getting too dangerous. I stopped walking at 4am when the officers that used to station him or herself at the track while catching up on reports stopped doing that.
PT and Zeno, Again I find myself agreeing with your posts. Heck, if I don't have at least 3-400 in my pocket I feel partially dressed. Maybe this is why my kids want to shop with me at the mall instead of their Mom. Ha......... Afterall, 350 isn't alot of money nowadays.
I've been trying to get a South Georgia newspaper that I check every Sunday online all day Sunday and today. What's going on down there? Did the weather affect things worse down there than what we've been hearing?
Please send your chickenfeed to the following address: In Need of Chickenfeed, P.O. Box 350.00, Disgusta, GA, 350.00-Help
Hemi, funny. I agree. Heck, the $350 would have helped pay my green fee at Torry Pines yesterday.
I really don't thnk carrying $350 in your wallet is excessive. It's what I would consider average.
I just wish more victims were armed themselves and would use it!! I am so sick of these robbers. I hope they are caught and in jail receive the same disreguard and fear for thier lives as thier victims did.
I know the news you print is the news.. but surely there is something in Augusta Georgia that is positive for the community... can't you have a positive note in the news instead of all the negativity you print daily... just read the trash you print daily... good news should be printed also... in a seperate section would be great title it
NEWS TO LIVE BY.... THE GOOD NEWS..
Good news is printed, indifferent sections. Try reading all the paper. I for one like to know where all these shotings and robbings are taking place so I know where to avoid!!!! Don't blame the AC, blame the sorry lowlife punk cowards who commit the crimes!!! =)
106834022. They don't print all the crime reports (trash as you call them), if they did you'd never finish the paper. It's just a sampling as room allows, so no one can say crimes are being ignored by the local media. There's a whole lot more going on than the newspaper has room to print. And there are positive stories. Did you catch the one yesterday of the son that came home to help his mother, and checked to see if his kidney matched, it did, and he gave one of his kidneys to her? That was one of the best positive stories lately, but not the only one.
Augusta Makes the National Thug Report
Doesn't suprise me Augusta made it. Thugs are taking over this town. I just still hope the citizens are packing for protection and start defending themselves. These [filtered word] do not deserve to live with noraml human beings. We should start an island and drop them all off like the animals they are and let them get rid of each other. We would have more rooms in jails!! =)
I agree TakeAStand. I just ran across an old letter to the editor where Charlie Hannah was commended for brokering a truce between gangs down on East Boundary in 1997! Yet we were told for years, there are no gangs here. Sad to say, the naysayers were wrong, wrong, wrong. I tried and tried to get anyone to listen to me regarding the gangs in 30906, I just wasn't calling them gangs. Some did, some didn't due to a betrayal by a few key people that had a specific agenda to discredit me. (God will get them for that, I don't have to.) But law enforcement should have known what they were when I kept trying to report what was going on. It was hard for me to accept that the women that were harassing me were part of gangs. At first I just thought they were mean and under the influence of some kind of substance abuse. Some were, apparently, but in hindsight, its likely they were trying to distract law enforcement and I from realizing what their boyfriends and/or suppliers were up to.
If these people who took such perverse pleasure in bullying my family and I knew what a good shot I was and that I had been carrying the whole 8 years they were trying to make my life a living you know what, I don't think they would have been quite so brazen. They never knew I carried. I am a patient person. I didn't even shoot back when I got shot at on my own deck and the bullet hit two feet from where I was standing. I went inside and asked my husband to call the police, since when I was reporting things I wasn't getting very good results. He didn't call until the next day after I told him I had told a relative in law enforcement what happened. When he heard that he finally got a deputy over there. I truly believe if anybody else had put up with what I put up with from the people on that block and the sleep deprivation from worrying about all the car thefts, home invasions, and vandalism and other thefts for those 8 years, they would have gone postal. It's only by the grace of God and a naive hope an undercover investigation was underway that I didn't go postal.
I feel ya B. Even if the girls themselves werent in gangs, the girlfriends of these gang member are just as trashy and violent as the cowards they have for boyfriends., and will do anything to protect the [filtered word]'s. And just becuase these thugs may sometimes not even belong to a specific gang, it doesn't make them any less of a [filtered word], This world could do without them all!!!!!!!
Yes, it boils down to, it doesn't matter what they call themselves, or what others call them, if they are committing criminal acts, they should be held accountable. A skunk by any other name is just as odoriferous.
