SOUTH CAROLINA GOV. Sanford asks for federal aid because it hasn't rained on South Carolina. Is it up to the federal government to make it rain? Can the federal government make it rain? Does the federal government have the authority or the responsibility to suddenly pay out more tax money to people who need rain? That's not a government job. That's socialism? Why is Sanford suddenly turning socialist?
IS THERE ANY law enforcement agency in the North Augusta area, (NAPS, ACSD, SCHP) that can/will enforce the speed limit on the "new/old" Belvedere-Clearwater Road. This especially includes the school zone for Belvedere Elementary. Please, stop these excessive speeders before someone is killed.
I RESENT HAVING to spend taxpayer dollars to support the Aiken man sentenced to 30 years in prison for murdering his mother. Law-abiding citizens need to demand better from our justice system. Violent and habitual criminals are draining too many valuable resources from our society. Think about how many of the challenges in our nation could be more effectively addressed if fewer funds were used to house these thugs.
RANT TO ALL the idiots coming from the Walnut Place in North Augusta who, after the stop sign, pull right in front of cars driving 45 mph on Walnut Lane. Stop before someone gets killed.
WHY WON'T THE Clearwater water commissioner close down the Clearwater fire department and contract out to Bath, which is a class act fire department. Clearwater is a joke. Read about the chief that's going to raise everyone's fire bill to pay for their junk.
WHAT IS A GOOD name for the proposed to-be-incorporated GVW area that would be pleasing to most people? How many named communities are in this area? Is it fair to call the whole area Horse Creek, New Hope, or Gregg? How about keeping it GVW, S.C. We have all heard that name and know where it is.
A HUGE RANT for the Midland Valley Christian Academy at the Nazarene Church. They won't take children with disabilities, but yet they are a church? How can you call yourselves Christians when you are discriminating against God's children?
VOTE FOR NEW city name GVW, Inc. GVW is a conglomerate of three towns plus many smaller communities. How about the name GVW Inc. This name would include everyone and be much easier to write and remember. Cannot be confused with any other post office address.

To the person complaining about having to support thugs in prisons: Have you ever contacted any judge or elected offical and let them know how you feel about things? No good complaining here. I'm pretty sure neither read "Rants and Raves". Call or e-mail them let them know people are tired of it. I already have but ain't got a response back yet. But at least I know they got my opinion.
I too live near Walnut Lane. I have almost been hit several times by the suburbanites who think they have the right to ignore the stop signs and just jet out into oncoming traffic. One day someone is going to get killed for real! North Augusta police need to patrol more often.
To the one complaining of speeders on Clearwater Road. Apparenty you dont travel that road enough b/c Law Enforcement has been out there constantly from what I have seen and from the neighbors that have gotten tickets by the cops. Its good to know you are doing the speed limit b/c there are several unmared vehicles that are riding around.
Instead of the Valley, the so called trash dump between North Augusta and Aiken, looking better, it continuously gets worse. The big house on the corner of 421 & Piney Heights was leading the way to making things look better for quite a few years. What happened to that man that used to work in the yard all the time and keep the place so neat and clean? Did he pass away or does anyone know? He sure was friendly and nice to everyone. I heard he was married to one of those Addie girls; if so, that pretty much explains everything. I'd bet he ain't there no more. May he rest in peace, I never heard one bad thing about him.
This is for the person who is complaining about the Clearwater Fire Department. If you did your homework you would see that South Carolina has some of the lowest fire fees in the nation and they have hardly been raised in years. Also fire fees don't go to pay for junk....They go to pay for fire gear, maintenance on engines and trucks, and equipment that has to be replaced or firefighters can't do their job. Emergency service workers are some of the lowest paid people also, so next time you have a ill mannered comment why don't you think again.....
