Morris Phillip Green (MIDVILLE, Ga.)

MIDVILLE, Ga. - Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Morris Phillip Green, age 83 of Midville, GA who died Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at the Burke County Hospital in Waynesboro, GA after a brief illness. Funeral services will be Saturday August 23, 2008, at 2PM at the Midville First Baptist Church in Midville, Ga. with the Rev. Scott McKinney and Rev. Tony Smith officiating. Interment will be in Midville City Cemetery in Midville, Ga. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends at Durden-Hudson Funeral Home from 6-8pm Friday Evening. Pallbearers are Scott Howard, Keith Howard, Tony Howard, Craig McNeely, Michael Autry, Richard McNeely, Jeff Bunn, Steve Bunn and Don Youmans. Honorary Pallbearers are the Deacons of Midville Baptist Church. Mr. Green was a native of Jefferson County and a retired engineer with the Georgia Department of Transportation. He served his country with the Marine Air Force during WWII with the 3rd Marine Air Wing in the South Pacific Operation. He was a life member of the GA DOT Engineers Association, served as Mayor of Midville, GA, and a member of the Midville and Ridgeway Masonic Lodge 104 for 60 years. He was a member of the Midville Baptist Church and a deacon and served as treasurer for 23 years. Mr. Green was Chairman of the Burke County Red Cross for 14 years and served on the Burke County Board of Elections for 13 Ú years and was a member of the Midville Lions Club for 35 years. He was secretary and treasurer of the Midville Industrial Development Corporation for 15 years. He was preceded in death by his parent, Roger N. and Bertie Lee Lamb Green; three sisters: Brunell Fagler, Connie Wester, and Boots Fulghum Lewis, and three brothers: Roger Lewis Green, Joe Green and Harold Green. Survivors include: his wife: Betty McCannon Green of Midville, GA.; Two Step-Sons: Emory L. Williams Jr. and Larry E. Williams Sr. both of Midville, GA.; One Sister: Reba Scott Allen of Savannah, GA.; Two Grandchildren: Michelle Lawson of Austin TX and Larry E. Williams Jr. of Fort Worth, TX.; 5 Great-Grandchildren.
