Letter to the Editor
Does anyone in their right mind believe that if the oil companies wanted to drill for oil that they can't because of the Democrats?
We all know Big Oil has every politician in its pockets and can do whatever they want. Or do you believe that all Democrats are honest and do not take Big Oil's money? Think: These politicians have been talking about this since Nixon has been in office -- that's 35 years and counting. Oil makes billions with the expense of drilling. Case in point: U.S. Sen Ted Stevens of Alaska.
Maybe I lived in a different world, but when George W. Bush was elected the first time, the joke was that gasoline will go to $5 a gallon because he and dad are oil men. The only way to make a profit is to sell more or raise the price of that product. I'll bet Bush got a nice bonus, as did Vice President Dick Cheney for his Halliburton ties.
The oil from Iraq was to pay for this war. It hasn't, but Bush has spent this country into its worst shape ever . First the feds will cut funds to the states, and they will raise taxes. Then they will cut Social Security, then Medicare, then raise your taxes, and you'll have less money.
To stop this kind of representation is to vote them out. Good and bad will have to suffer until they get the message that we are tired of it all. If you don't, it will be politics as usual. It's the only way in this two-party system -- and believe me, it is just a two-party system.
