Letter to the Editor
As an 11-year citizen of Augusta I stand with those who do not want this X-Mart to open in this area.
Pornography destroys the mind and soul of man. Evidence is in the daily media. Men, women and children all over the world are being sexually and mentally abused by people who are bound up by pornography's influences. Teenagers are losing their teen years and also their lives because they use prostitution as a way of escaping difficulties in their personal lives.
There are tons of statistics that show that the existence of pornography and the influences that are associated with it are not good things. It has been my experience that when evil cannot get its way, it resorts to dirty tactics to try to back its adversary into a corner -- i.e., the financial threats that the city will lose its legal fight and owe a big legal debt. That is what the lawyers for X-Mart are doing: trying to back the Augusta Commission into a corner. Commissioners need to stand fast and not waver from their choice of light as opposed to darkness.
Evil will always spew out lies to try to put people into a state of fear. Fear is this: False Evidence Appearing Real. The lawyers of X-Mart are using false evidence to attempt to sway the commission. Do not be fooled by false evidence; pornography is destructive to society as a whole, and we as citizens must stand united against its very existence.
