AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Essie Mae Gilchrist, of W. Wheeler Parkway, entered into rest Saturday, August 16, 2008 at the Kentwood Nursing Facility. Graveside services will be held Thursday, August 21, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Walker Memorial Park with Rev. Mark Pierson officiating. Mrs. Gilchrist, a native of Greenwood, S.C., was a member of the Bethel A.M.E. Church. Mrs. Gilchrist was employed by the late Rose Sawilowsky and Shirley Shapiro Families for 59 years before retiring in 1990. Survivors are a niece, Sarah Anne (Bennie) Lamb; nephew, Paul (Gertrude) Perez, Atlanta, Ga.; caregiver, Shirley (Norman) Shapiro and family; devoted friends, Georgia Beard, Josephine Taylor, Annette Simmons, Vallie VanBuren, Carole Kenner, Evelyn Spencer, Lillie Jacobs, and Andrew Jordan. Special thanks to Nancy Powell and Janet Dawson and all the wonderful staff at Kentwood Nursing Home for 4 and a half years of devoted and loving care.
