AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Frances J. Ligon wife of the late John P. Ligon entered into rest after a long illness on August 15, 2008 at The Place at Martinez. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at 3:00 P.M. from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors. Mrs. Ligon was a native of Scott County, Virginia and the daughter of the late Lucian and Pearl Williams Smallwood. She was retired from Murray Biscuit Co. as a secretary. Mrs. Ligon was a member of Burns Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class, the Mary Cullar White Circle and The Happy Club. Mrs. Ligon was preceded in death by her grandson, Robert W. (Robbie) Ligon, Jr. and her brother Garland Smallwood. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Robert W. Sr. and Ruthie Ligon of Martinez, her daughters and sons-in-law, Ann L. and James Scott of Augusta, Eileen and Michael Lardiero of Maryville, TN; Grandchildren, Melanie Scott, Wesley Scott, Jeff Scott, Stephanie Murrell, Mark Johnson, Debra Ellis and Angela Avery; Great-grandchildren, Logan McElmurray, Cody McElmurray, Shelby Scott and Colton Murrell; Mrs. Ligon's caregivers, Henrietta Ramsey, Helen Travers and Annie Majors and the staff of The Place At Martinez. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Fellowship Sunday School Class and The Mary Cullar White Circle. Memorial contributions may be made to Burns Memorial United Methodist Church, 2372 Lumpkin Road, Augusta, Georgia 30906 or to the Alzhiemers Association 1899 Central Ave. Augusta, Georgia 30904.
