DECATUR, Ga. --- A grand jury indicted a former DeKalb County sheriff's deputy Thursday in the fatal shootings of his wife and a Guatemalan day laborer, who he claimed had killed his spouse at their Stone Mountain home.

Prosecutors say Derrick Yancey fabricated the story about the June 9 shootings of Linda Yancey, 44, and Marcial Puluc, 23.

Mr. Yancey, 46, was charged with two counts of malice murder and two counts of using a handgun during a felony. He turned himself in about an hour after the announcement of the indictment.
