Bad things come with electing Democrats

  • Follow Letters

With fewer than 100 days left before we choose our next president, we need to get a few things clear.

The surge in Iraq has worked wonders, despite an enormous number of Democrats and some members of Congress saying the war was lost. Since Iraq is not nearly the concern it once was, it now will not be Barack Obama's ticket to the White House. While Iraq is not over by a long way, when was the last time you heard Obama discussing Iraq? One may note that there were 39 combat related deaths in the entire country of Iraq in January, while the city of Detroit accounted for 35 murders in that same month -- but the latter was not shared widely by the media.

In World War II, which took almost a half million lives, Germany never attacked us. Japan did -- and the war was a Democrat-led event. Democrat Harry Truman finished World War II and started one with North Korea (who never attacked us), which took 55,000 lives. Democrat John Kennedy started the Vietnam War in 1962 (Vietnam never attacked us). Democrat Lyndon Johnson turned Vietnam into the biggest mess in U.S. military history. Democrat Bill Clinton went to war with Bosnia without U.N. consent (Bosnia never attacked us).

President Bush has liberated two countries and captured a dictator that murdered about 500,000 of his own countrymen.

Now, Obama and the Democrats controlling Congress want no new drilling, no new refineries and no additional nuclear power plants. If you are only moderately good at math, you can see where your finances are headed if you are determined to elect another Democrat.

In the words of Cain. No democrat would ever start a war. It was a right wing conspiracy by that war criminal George Bush and Cheney funded by Halliburton and the Saudis! Praise be Allah you infidels!!!

Bush sent the military to Iraq to make his friends rich and sent Katrina to New Orleans because he hates Black Americans. Democrats would never do that. They would only give us security and safety. More Robin Hood taxes and less need for national defense. Obama '08

It's too bad we can't ammend the constitution and re-elect Bush/Cheney again. You can't blame Bush for what happened in New Orleans, how did he know people needed help. White House Televisions have a Block on CNN, NBC, ABC and CBS and Fox didn't really cover the Hurricane. Anyway, why didn't all those people just load up their SUVs and head to their winter cottages or simply vacation in Europe until the Hurricane was gone? It's not Bush's fault. FEMA has more important things to do, like ...give me a minute and I'll think of some. Also, Bush didn't attack Iraq just to make his friends rich. All Bush's friends are already rich. We had to attack them because they had Weapons of Mass Destruction, they were responsible for 9/11 and were trying to build a nuclear weapon with material that they were getting from Africa. Also, as the letter to the editor wrote, Saddam had killed 500,000 of his own people. That's a large percentage given that Iraq only has 23 Million. His sons also raped and tortured Millons of women. Wilt Chamberlain can't compare to these guys. When all of this is over, we'll be changing the name of Ronald Reagan Road in Columbia County to Bush/Cheney Blvd

Maybe he should have spent more time getting oral sex in the oval office and then perjuring himself before congress instead of trying to do the right thing. People seem to forget that in the 1930's when Hitler was coming into power nobody did anything to stop it. Then 5 million jewish deaths later people couldn't believe what happened (unless you listen to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who says it never happened). As far as what happened in New Orleans. People didn't have to go to their summer cottages but they did have ample time to leave. Hello? You live in a city below sea level with a hurricane coming. You can blame that power hungry governor for telling FEMA that she was the only one that could declare a state of emergency. You can also blame chocolate city Ray for spending levee money on basketball programs. Did FEMA do all they could? Absolutely not, but don't burden them with all the blame...the list is long. While I may not agree with all the decisions GW has made I still support him as my president. Whoever gets elected in Nov will get the same support, Dem or Rep.

Long live King Obama and his loyal 'albeit sheep to the slaughter' er...fans....Remember to watch for the coronation in Colorado...

Wyldsfam4, I guess Truman sending our troops to Korea and Kennedy sending our troops to Vietnam were Republicans? I know you aren't stupid, so please don't act that way.

GnipGnop

I think you have me mistaken for someone else. Your comment makes no sense. Maybe you are the stupid one? Or maybe you misunderstood my attempt at humor?

In regards to Katrina, it was the sixth-strongest Atlantic hurricane ever recorded and the third-strongest hurricane on record that made landfall in the United States. Why the heck did so many people remain or couldn't leave New Orleans in the path of such a hurricane is the question, although 80% of the 1.3 million population did evacuate in their three phase plan. The most hurricane damage occured on the Mississippi coast and into Alabama, but because NO flooded more loss of life and property occured there. You can't blame the govt for a hurricane and why the city couldn't evacuate the elderly and care facilities is a travesty. The National Guard should have been requested to enter NO before the storm hit would have been a better start.

fred1217

I've lived on the coast for many years. What a lot of you Monday Morning Quarterbacks don't realize is that many storms start out for your area and change course at the last "minute". Many people don't want to leave only to find out that the 'cane did a right turn or even a u-turn. You do have a small percentage that would stay to ride out the storm, ride in on the waves or just don't watch, NBC, ABC, CBS or CNN and are watching the Fox News coverage of how great the Bush Administration is and how bad the Democrats are.

christian134

Katrina was a bad one but I will attest to the fact that people down on the coast tend to want to "ride them out". As a kid we used to look forward to hurricane season as a reprieve from school just like the kids up north would have snow days our days were hurricane days...I can remember one, I think it was Camille, devastated the whole of the Gulf Coast...Thousands of people stayed and rode that one out..We were among those that stayed..People growing up down on the Gulf will tend to ride these storms out either for lack of monies to leave or because it is a rush...

Shoooooo We're not supposed to say anything bad about bleeding heart libs or Obama. Very good article Mr. Clements, very good. I hope you know that you are now a racist as defined by the black liberals.

christian134

Thanks fd1962 love you also...I wasn't particularly commenting on much except hurricanes...Your a real cool breeze on an otherwise mucky day...uhhhmm

You would know APEX24. It should be all hail the walk on water, part the seas Republicans. We know that they cannot do any wrong. I mean all the ills of the world are the fault of the Democrats. Spread the word Obama is coming Obama is coming, surely that is the sign of the second coming of the Beast,

I4PUTT

While it ain't Monday and I certainly am no quarterback I do try to use logic and common sense. If 8 out of 10 people around me thought it was bad enough to leave, I would too. 80% is a high percentage. I'm not sure any president has ever received 80% of the votes. I think if I heard the weatherman say there was an 80% chance of rain, I might just carry an umbrella. I've never lived on the coast so I can't be certain. My guess is that common sense would apply there as well. One last question....did anything bad happen to the 20% who remained during Katrina? Perhaps 80% should have gotten their attention too.

bigjimjohnstowns

I think it is mor like the first coming of an idiot.

HYPOCRITES 08

No, it would be the second coming. I believe someone else was already here first.

HYPOCRITES 08

Now that is a new one. Liberator Bush. Yeah, has a nice ring to it. Talk about re-writing history.

GnipGnop

So justus4 your saying because we have had all white presidents that we should vote for a black man? USing your logic I expect a white man to be appointed as the head of the NAACP and the Nation of Islam. You, sir. are a racist!

HYPOCRITES 08

What would be wrong with that? What would make it even more special, if they elected a Muslim as head of the KKK. What a wonderful world it would be.

GnipGnop

Well since I don't support the KKK I could give a rat's butt.

christian134

Your chronic display of disparaging remarks are becoming as to border on the inane or maybe they already have eh Fire..

accuracyplease

Wars are not started by one political party or another. "Legitimate" entry into wars are authorized the the Congress of the United States. Unfortunately, the Republican majority in Congress enabled Bush to invade a sovereign nation to revenge his believe that Sadaam had "tried to kill his daddy" without any such explicit vote, and setting a precedent that the President could unilaterally commit troops to a war of his own making.

Perhaps if you dwell on real problems facing the US today, including the mortgaging of your children's futures, the red herrings would be buried for good. Read Eisenhower's Farewell Address which warned of the rise of the Military-Industrial Complex that has a stranglehold on our government.

jack234

The Iraq war is not the only reason to vote for Obama. We just don't believe that Mcain is the one to put this 8 year nightmare on the demestic front behind us. I agree with PT - Obama 08 -sarcasm or no. Now, have a blessed day and do as I do - help get out the vote for Obama-Nunn. Thank you and get off the post and try to get some work done for your employer - probably the government.

HYPOCRITES 08

Well since I don't support the NAACP I could give a JACKAZZ. See what a wonderful world.

HYPOCRITES 08

Listen, christian, no one pull your chain. Just like you I have a right to comment but your opinions are like toilet paper to me. I am sure you get my drift.

GnipGnop

That's not the point. The point was Justus4 voting for him only because he is black.

christian134

Oh thank you so much for your wondrous really cheerful remarks as usual this fine day Fire...:-)
