BEECH ISLAND, S.C. - Mr. Robert 'Bob' Leonard Donelow, 72, of Beech Island, SC, beloved husband of fifty- two years to Rosalee Clifford Donelow and son of the late William and Ida Mae Smith Donelow, died Sunday, August 10th, 2008. Born in Laurel Creek, West Virginia, he was a resident of Beech Island, SC, since 1976. Robert proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps retiring after twenty years of service, earning the rank of Master Sergeant and 2nd Lieutenant. He served one tour of duty in the Vietnam Conflict. He worked at University Hospital, Augusta, GA, retiring with fifteen years of service. Bob enjoyed golfing and bowling. He was an avid bowler and once scored a 287 at Garden City Bowling Lanes Augusta, GA. In addition to his wife, family members include sons, Steve Done low, (Wendy) Purvis, MS and Jeffrey Donelow, (Beebe) Beech Island, SC; daughters, Julie Cooke, (Glenn) Denver, CO and Susie Jones, Candler, NC; one grandson, six granddaughters, two great- grandsons and one great-granddaughter; brothers, Tom Donelow, Chicago, IL, and Jim Ratliff, Hazard, KY; and a sister, Ethel Atkins, Elkton, VA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Bill Donelow, Harless Donelow, and Jack Donelow, sisters, Louise Farler, Alice Wiseman, Stella Ward, Malina Carter and Frances Jones and a granddaughter, Kasey Donelow. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 12th, 2008, at 2 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Langley, SC. Interment will follow in Pineview Memorial Gardens, North Augusta, SC. The family would like to thank the staff of Heartland Hospice for the compassionate care provided to Mr. Donelow during his last days.
